Installed a new Badlands ZXR 12,000lb winch (black friday deal was too good to pass up). Waiting on synthetic rope to arrive so I can do that swap and fully button everything up but removed bumper, mounted winch, reinstalled heavy as hell bumper, wired and tested. Also ordered the Agency6 flatlink for cool points on their black Friday sale.

Swapped out grills. The paint on the new grill makes the rest of the truck look like shit.

Not sure if you've gotten it loose yet but for mine it was also very tight by hand so I used a few different extensions and adapters to snake through the hoses and used my 1/2" milwaukee impact and it cracked it right loose. The vibration from the impact works wonders, I use it whenever possible now saves so much time.

Welcome to the club. Had mine powder coated last year. I love this look and hoping to find a brand with something similar when I decided to upgrade to lighter wheels cause these with 35s are heavy.

September 2010: Driving my favored route from Missoula to Valdez, Alaska, I stopped for a woodland caribou standing on the highway in Stone Mountain Provincial Park. After it stepped to the side, I slowly rolled up by it, we looked each other in the eye across the right window of the '07 Malibu sand I was reminded of the reindeer in Tim Allen's "Santa Clause." There's something crazy going on in there! Started rolling again and that young caribou stayed with me until my thought at 25 miles per hour, "How would I explain damage to the right side to an insurance adjuster?" and accelerated away. I surmise it was hanging out near its mother, as an adult was lying bloated off the road, after being rolled by a heavy truck. Mom...
One winter visit to my folks after I retired from AK, Dad grabbed me to ride the back of the Yamaha ATV down to one of the pastures. We hazed the herd of elk off the cattle's alfalfa spread, and when the herd cow and I looked at each across the fence, there was much more serious going on inside that head than with the young caribou. I always slow down when visibility declines at dusk... Whitetails can be anywhere, and moose eyes do not reflect light. This last was explained to me by a guy who had a nice Toyota T100, and showed up the next spring with a larger, taller Chevy truck. He didn't want a moose rolling up over his hood. As Phil Conrad always used to say after the shift briefing on "Hill Street Blues," "Hey, let's be careful out there!"

Man those are sweet. Still tossing around the idea of getting them powder coated. I’m gonna stick with my current 265/70 falken wildpeaks that are p rated to keep the weight down.

Installed my RCI engine skid. Overall fairly easy install, didn’t even need to lift the truck up at all. Just used a floor jack to lift it up into place. The ONLY thing I don’t like about the skid is it doesn’t have those hooks in the front like the stock skid, heaven forbid all the bolts come loose the skid would just fall off while driving. Highly doubtful situation but would’ve been nice to have those.

Initially ensure your undercarriage is as clean as you can get it (power wash etc.), tend to any surface rust (wire brush, evapro rust etc.) and paint (POR 15, Rustoleum etc.), then I use Cosmoline (Cosmoline RP-342 BLACK Military-Grade Rust Preventive Spray | Cosmoline Direct, LLC ) for everything (frame, axles, differentials, LCAs, etc.). I use fluid film inside the boxed areas of the frame with the 360-degree spray attachment.

The initial cost will be the most (front loaded) based on the prep work and varying items/chemicals used. but after the initial it is less than $100 a year (6 cans of Cosmoline Black) maybe $200 if you did it twice a year (spring and fall).

Other than that, is your time (hour or two) to apply - I figure the minimum amount of time it takes me in "Preventive Maintenance" beats the loss of time and money for a complete frame and parts replacement.

I live in New Mexico, and they don't use salt on the roads during winter though they do use chemicals (ice melt). Humidity here is extremely low year-round so rust in the southwest is really not a concern, I am just extremely OCD and over engineer/think everything.

The hooks are there just to make it easier to install/remove so dont worry about these not having them.

Good to know. The stock skid is so light, could probably hold the entire thing in place with one hand while putting the bolts in with the other. Either way, this RCI one is beefy! Looks good too.

Why did you have to swap out the stock rear camera for the one with the rear view mirror? I like the hidden view of the stock camera.
