Just got mine in August and had my ceremony in November. Was wondering if anyone else has earned the honor.

I now regret not going into the Boy Scouts. When I was 12, I put camo on instead. Congrats, btw!

Congratulations. I got mine back in 1996 when I was 16. The experiences I had in Boy Scouts were some of the best times in my life. Never made it to Philmont or any of the major Boy Scout attractions, but spent many nights camping (usually one weekend a month). Got to hike all through the Smokey Mountains, a part of the Appalachians here in Tennessee. It's much harder now for me now to take the time and go camping/hiking, than it was then. And I don't get to do it with as many people as I did then. Those were really good times. Glad to hear you enjoyed it and made it to Eagle.

Congrats, "socolax91" you're a marked man now -- do the honor proud.

    ----

    Phoenix,
I did the camo as well -- had fun with all of it
CAP as a cadet for awhile, but my squadron collapsed -- I think I managed to get C/A1C
Army ROTC in high school made C/SGM and was Battalion SGM my sophomore year, was Raider Co. CDR both junior and senior years and I was BC my senior year ending as C/LTC, the whole time I competed in Best Squad

    Fond memories

I was in a troop when I was a kid. Got up to the Star rank, then did all my work/requirements for my Heart rank, but my scout leaders were lazy losers and just never gave it to me. We went camping every once in a while, but not very much. So, I just quit going. I don't think the troop lasted much longer after that...

I wish I would have finished, but my troop/troop leaders just sucked.

Whenever we DID do stuff, I really enjoyed it. Did the Order of the Arrow - that was really cool.

(Sorry if my terms are a little off - haven't talked about scouting in 15+ years!)

I was in for awhile...i made it to 1st class (i think thats what it was) but like Longhorn...my troop sucked and there wasnt a lot of unity and so we didnt get much out of it...

however my dad took it over about the time my brother joined and subsequently my middle brother earned his Eagle...my youngest also achieved Eagle

    Congratulations for earning it...

It helped out my brother a good bit when he joined the Marines as he was able to graduate boot camp as a PFC instead of Private, and is now LCpl before anyone else he graduated with (except 1 guy)

big thumbs up to you for earning it!

You're certainly welcome and while I appreciate the respect, no "Sir" is needed.
    that they are indeed.

    <off-topic, sorry>

Nice to see a fellow (former) CAPer here. Sorry to hear of the squadon collapse, but in my 4 years of being in, it's quite common, sadly. What squadron / wing were you with?

Composite Sqdn. 93, CA Wing and that was 1990-1992 (roughly) did get to go to emcampment at Vandenberg AFB
I was with a Senior Sqdn. 150 for a while but it was more like a coffee club, I got my general ES card and that was about it.

CAP is another good organization, but much like scouts it depends on the unit you're with.

    congrats! Glad you made it.

I received my Eagle back in Feb, 1977. I have now been back in Scouts as a volunteer for the last 7 years. It is still the great program now as it was 100 years ago.

Oh ya, my wife sarcasticly told me last summer that since I spend about 1000 hours / year volunteerring for Scouts, and about 500 hours surfing TW, that I should find out how many Scout buddies were on TW.

Congrats.. I got my Eagle almost 5 years ago. I'm 22 now and it really helps with applying to colleges and looking for jobs too. Also i hear you start out at a higher rank if you join the military.

Congrats! I was never a boy scout. I know that it's an honor to be a Eagle Scout, but I don't understand what it takes to become one. So, please enlighten us? Thanks
