Good morning to all. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend and is still here

 

This my friend is why we are in a lease that is not cheap. 12 people on 4,000 acres of mountain/riverbottom land. heavily posted. so we manage and let bucks walk to grow.actually we kill very few bucks but the ones we take are good mature ones. ive let many go this year that would be shot on most properties. its a choice. good,safe place is worth the money.

 

We have a little over 100 acres of “hunting” property that we rarely hunt on. It’s main use is as a shooting range and camping area. We get asked every year if we want to lease it out but my Dad holds veto power. I think we should. It’s a constant project to keep people off of it, and we avoid it during the main gun-deer season anyway. It’s always something, from dumping garbage to people just “looking around.” If people would just be respectful, we would probably be cooler about it, but people who don’t care about property rights, also don’t care about what they do on your property.

dont get me wrong... all for hunting if you are gonna eat it. & we do deer, rabbit, squirrel....

but also all for not trespassing on someone else's property. we dont do it & we dont like it done to us.

someone "looking around" on my property gets met with a lot different response than a hunter who jumps the fence. we dont do lookie lou's here.
got a visit a couple years back from the Sheriff (i fix his guns). He got a complaint that someone shot at people in the woods.
well it wasnt "AT"..... but it was towards & they were in my woods. mistook them for a coyote & those are always in season here. thats my story & sticking with it.

dumping: we do have a problem with people dumping CATS on us. got about 1200' of road front at the bottom of the hill/driveway. so of course everyone throws shit out their window for me to pick up in the ditch..

they also throw cats out the window as they drive by & then we have to get them fixed, rehome them & in the case of the last one? they broke his hip & we had to pay for the surgery cause my wife wouldnt let me put it down or pay to have it put down.

want to stay positive as there are many of great people not just on this board, but out there in general.
It just so happens that lots of people suck & those are the ones we all bitch/talk about.
