That's actually the same one I was looking at in the 32K grain. Same grain level as my current one and it works great. I'll have to get a water sample from the pressure tank drain to get an accurate reading first. I don't dare touch the bypass valves on my old one.

It means that someone called in for locates, there is going to be some underground work in that area.

    that would work.

in my area, lots of work is with conduit, so i would use a 1900 deep box(2-1/8" deep, 30.1 cu in), with a 1900 extension ring(1-1/2" deep, 22.5 cu in). in outdoor patio's, that would then get a 3/4-1"(2gang, 8.8-12 cu in) mud ring for the facia board. that works out to somewhere between 61.6-64.8 cu. in. of wire space within the box. that box is 48 cu in, which is pretty close. i always found the metal boxes to be nicer as the internal/external dimensions were tighter due to the metal strength, but ymmv.

It’s a garage setup with 1/2” ply and a 3M house so trying to minimize demo.

that cut-in ring becomes the 'mud ring'. with a 2x6 framing, you might even be able to use 2 extension rings. though it might be a little excessive.

I have a Honeywell whole house humidifier that doesn't seem to do anything. I set it to 20% and it can't even tough that. This isn't the exact model I have but it looks the same. I have another unit that you pour water in and that one can get the house to 60% so why can't my Honeywell do it?

It only runs when the HVAC is running and I have my HVAC set to circulate 15min per hour on top of actually heating the house. I check the water solenoid and it it running, also the filter is soaked.

There are 3 possible problems I'm thinking it could be.

    1) the unit just sucks and was a waste of money.
    2) it was installed wrong.
    3) the wick filter needs to be changed. It's the same filter I had in the house when I bought it last year. It looks ok so I don't think it's the filter but I could be wrong.

I found this picture online which is how I imagine it should be installed

This is mine. I don't see how this could ever work.

need more pictures, but that definitely looks wrong--i can't make out if that's a self-contained blower unit, or an evaporative passive unit.

ideally, it needs to be just after the furnace, and ducted to the return side, just before the furnace.

here's my passive unit that i replaced last year after the old one's plastics started literally evaporating.

they do claim that the pads are supposed to be replaced yearly, but it just seems excessive to me...

Why would a humidifier go on the return side and not the supply side?

My door jamb gave way last night, so removed and replaced the jamb. Threw a new handle set on at the same time. I'm surprised the old jamb made it as long as it did.

um, my particular unit goes on the supply side, ducted to the return side because the air blows 'backwards' through it.

the large rear opening on it needs the air pressure from the supply side, and the small tube leading away from it is the 'exhaust' that will now have the humidified air within it that then re-circulates through the furnace.

it's all per my installation manual, on page 4:
    https://cdn.menardc.com/main/items/media/HONEY001/Install_Instruct/HE240-Installation-Guide.pdf.

Painting our brick fireplace and wondering what this blue coming through is? It only showed up when we first did the primer. I thought it would dry and be covered by the paint but as soon as a put a coat of paint on it leaked through. Some sort of chemical reaction?

Not sure what contaminate is, but you are probably going to have to use a shellac based primer to seal all that out. Might be some odd soot seeping through causing a reaction.

I don't know what that particular one is, but sharpies do that as well. The reason is whatever is in the sharpie ink is alcohol based. That is what is bleeding through, the alcohol. I'm not saying this is a sharpie, I'm just saying its more than likely alcohol based and that is what is bleeding through. There are several primers that will cover it, you need to figure out what primer will work.
My recommendation is take pictures and bring them to a Sherman Williams store and ask them. I would not go to HD, they're about as useful as a public defender.

You just need to hit the area that is a problem. You dont need to do the whole thing. A quart would do for the whole project.
