Congratulations on staying employed by not giving any co-workers the beatings they so richly deserve.

The boss just tried to remove the recall parts I had just installed on an engine because he didn't understand the recall. And a co worker struggled for far to long with a transom saver.. o_O today might be interesting.

We don't have a lot going on at work at the moment so I decided to get the tail wheel fixed.

That's a long time, I've been toying with the idea of changing shops out here for over a year but I had decided I would wait until our next contract ratified in April to decide but now I may not wait until then. If everything(benefits, stability, shift) were the same, why wouldn't I go make more per hour to do a job I've done before? Hard decision :annoyed:

Money isn't everything. It makes things easier (most of the time) but if it comes to less money and a better quality of life/sanity/time for yourself/friends/family .. that's more important to me in the long run.

The wife and I are doing the math on this right now. Seeing if its feasible for me to try to get on a 4-9s schedule at work. And have Friday off for 3 day weekends. It would be fantastic to have more time.

I agree absolutely and without getting too far into it I initially interviewed for the job I am thinking of switching to and the hiring manager was like well would you be interested in this other job, sure my wife is 4 months pregnant I need a change. Now 2.5 years later my wife is pregnant again and I'm not happy with where I'm at. Couple rotten eggs ruined the batch for me. I think I'm generally a solid, dependable coworker, maybe too solid. Being a youngish, attentive, curious tech has made me a target. But all that I can handle. It's working with this one lady that is driving me nutty. She's awful.

Sounds like you and your family need to have further discussions what's best.. only you guys can figure that out. More money for a crappy job doesn't sound attractive.

We've talked about it, I wouldn't call the other job crappy, its pneumatics, high pressure, cryogenics on the same contract I'm on, just as stable. I agree money isnt everything, I think at this point its when not if I'll go.

Well Wrenchmen it gives your cantankerous commentator great satisfaction to report that my time in the attics should be done. :yay:

Thank you, I like to think that I'm doing a better job than most contractors would - the hours of labor for this slow moving detail stuff would probably pass the value of the house in short order...
