Keyfob Remote Start Newly Disabled After Limiting Information Sharing w/ Toyota

Recently after hearing how Toyota is selling all of our information to 3rd parties I went into the app and declined the master data consent for all services under the data privacy portal.

Prior to this I was able to remote start via keyfob and now after declining their selling of my information the remote start via keyfob is disabled! I’ve done it several times in the past so it isn’t an issue of whether my truck is equipped or if I’m pressing the buttons in the specific sequence. This is a complete SCAM by Toyota.

9/10 pissed right now.

 

They're probably reading this too. Keep an eye on your transmission shifting, they may mess with it

 

Interesting... I can't say I'm surprised. I turned off the thing that basically rates your driving, but they say they won't sell it to insurance companies. It'll happen in time. My 1 year of ownership is up in 3 weeks and I think I won't be able to do anything from the app without paying. But, I get that is different than what op is saying. But yes, SCAM

 

Mine still worked after declining all data sharing.

 

I have a '21 limited and opted out of all options in the privacy portal. My remote start from the FOB works.

 

The fob remote start works on my '21 TRD OR AC. I NEVER bought into the app and NEVER authorized data sharing.

 

I'm pretty sure the purchase of the truck authorizes data sharing and you must disable sharing manually.

 

Okay.
Now how does one accomplish that?

 

Its been over two years since I did it. I believe it is through the APP.

 

This is for iOS, not sure if it will differ on android:

• Register with the App if you haven't already.
• Click on the 'Person' icon on the top right - this will bring you to your account
• Click on 'Account'
• Scroll down and click on 'Data Privacy Portal'
• Click into each item and decline

If I recall, it took some time for it to be completely disconnected. You will notice the 'SOS' button will no longer work after you opt out of these options.

 

Well, it would be hard to tell if Toyota was or wasn't messing with the transmission's shifting?

- Wi-Fi Connect. - declined

That’s all it’s showing on my app.

Took mine in for the 5,000 mile service and it definitely shifted differently afterwards, and highway mileage dropped. It’s slowly getting back ‘normalish’. Rat bastards!
