Jump on it. I'm sure those of us that already have them aren't that serious. Myself included.

Get Rick's knob. You definitely won't regret it.

    @mteebee @mtip

sorry for the delay, attached are some pics. i know the scratches on the aluminum dont look good, and while i've not cared enough to try, im sure they could be buffed/wet sanded out without issue. they have no depth to them whatsoever. I'm not really sure how they got there in the first place, since I dont wear any jewelry or anything on my right hand, but I guess it just happens after almost 4 years?

anyways, check these pics out and i'll be in contact with each of you in PM in order of who messaged first

Four years of use and it is not polished? I figured that by now, all of Ricks knobs would be polished by hand!?!? o_O:rofl:

Is anyone interested in a trade? I have SS and since moving to the PNW it’s significantly colder than San Diego.

I do have a spare delrin knob with no pattern as well. I’d trade either for a 6MT delrin which would be less cold to my inadequately calloused hand. I’m mostly assuming nobody would want to trade a 6MT for blank unless maybe someone has a 5MT and it’s the wrong pattern.

I do really want the pattern for my dad and others who borrow the truck, so if anyone knows of a service which might be capable of carving my blank, please let me know.

For engraving your blank, a large number of gun shops now have laser engraving on premises. There might be one in your area that could help out.

I followed up on this with a local laser engraving company and they expressed concern that they didn’t have a way to test before firing off the laser. So a decent chance it could destroy the knob. It was a good idea though. Just not sure it’s a good plan to risk it given the scarcity of these knobs.

I went to a local trophy shop & found some engraving work there.

My 1st knob from Rick( @7r41lbr34k3r ), had just the TRD logo on top. Nobody else really drives my truck, but I did find this plate online. I mounted it on the overhead console just so the pattern is there in case someone else does ever drive it.

Yeah, I had a pattern plate on some sticky tape in my '05 for a bit, till I got my 5spd knob. I really like the pattern on the knob for situations like valet/dealer service where you have no idea who is driving your truck. And my dad is kind of an old man so he's likely to get confused given I have two different patterns.

The laser guys suggested hand engraving. I might look into that next. I thought there might be someone out there who'd rather have something custom and fun instead of their boring 6MT pattern and save me the trouble :)

I can test a fiber laser on Delrin if ya want. Would have to call in a favor to the other side of the building, but they shouldn't have a problem ... he'll probably try a few different settings and should be able to write them down to pass forward (if it works anyway).

I have an inquiry out to a local hand engraver. That might be fun anyway and less stress. Let me see where that ends up. This is not an urgent problem for me :) I'm just a wimpy guy about cold hands.

    What's up Tony!?

I still lurk quite a bit, but generally not posting unless I can help out. I haven't gotten any "HAYY can you make me a knob?!" PM's in a while, so probably safe to post again ... mayyybe.

Sure, I can do it here any time really just hit me up if you ever want to pursue.

What I really want from you is that Ti 5MT knob if you ever dig it out of a moving box :) :) :)
