No way dude, I'm not in the sign business.

But it sounds like you've got it down and would make some badass signs for others.

Because I make so few of them at any given point, it's why you'll see me post them from time to time. It's just fun when a request comes in.

I'm making parts every other day instead so my table is busy enough. Today I have to cut a bunch of scrap down, break in the new air compressor, move shit around, put up Christmas lights and more.

I need to make a small shelf under my table to hold my plasma cutter so the air compressor can get tucked between the two tables :bananadead:

Let's talk about the part we all hate.

Shipping! I fucking hate playing the shipping game! All providers are pretty close in price, but their tracking software can be miles apart!

I hate quoting a price then get beat up by the cost of shipping. I know I've sold many items that it cost me money out of my pocket to ship.

I just gave up and try to price things so I won't take too much of a reaming.

this is specifically why i don't ever sell things. i've only ended up on the right side of the shipping game when i over-estimate charges, and pocket the difference, and then my personality kicks in and i feel guilty...

    Can partially agree

I hate looking for specific sized boxes that are outside of USPS flat rate. But if it fits a flat rate box, I'm golden (I keep a ton in the garage from small, medium, and large).

But finding big flat boxes is a pain.

UPS quoted $120+ for a sign I sent out to TN I think it was. I went in person cause I didn't have a box to fit 23" x 15" or so.

Ended up wrapping it in cardboard (double) and I added steel rod in the form of an X to keep it from bending and it shipped for $21 via USPS.

So yeah, figuring out shipping for non-standard stuff is definitely a pain.

Well the new air compressor is broken in and completely leak-free.

I decided the fastest way to setting up my plasma cutter is repurposing that cart and just using the bottom platform on wheels.

Excuse the mess and small garage, I'm poor so I don't have a fancy detached building like all y'all :luvya:

    20231126_124244.jpg

I offered my friend my old air compressor as he can benefit from it when he gets himself a plasma cutter finally

Will work on it tomorrow, it's time for beer and relaxation with the kiddo

I was able to get a pretty good discount from ups for oversize packages. Back when I was going to try selling some bed racks.

I subscribe to Farm Show Magazine. November issue they had a story about a fab shop in South Dakota. They mainly build trailers, but they showed a smaller project I thought some of you might want to try. If I had a metal brake, I'd make one.

I still might make one and just do a lot of relief cuts and weld them up later. Maybe Jan-Feb type project when it's too cold to do much else.

Finally finished my damn laptop stand; really just had to cut out another top piece as the first one was too big and the mounting tabs were offset too high

Bottle changes are already a pain. But having to basically rebuild the cart for every bottle change sounds like a huge hassle. i've also got some apprehensions with loading the top of the bottle with that much weight so close to the 'business end' of the bottles...

Also, I have to say I've lucked out with a lot of things from Harbor Freight but after about 11 months of use with their water separator-desiccant combo filter, I can't recommend it

On the plus side, both the desiccant filter and water separator never leaked on me which is surprising being Chinese-made

The water separator caught enough water to make a difference in keeping my air dry, and the desiccant stage collected moisture to allow the beads to do their job

Here I've separated the two; I ran it for a bit earlier so you're seeing the moisture it collected

    20231128_171811.jpg

    20231128_171835.jpg

What surprised me the most however, was how nasty the threads were where the two join

    20231128_171726.jpg

With that said, the crappy part is that the bowl feels like it's going to break in attempting to replace the beads so I ordered a Campbell Hausfield set

Plus side, the new air compressor is quiet AF

I've yet to do a large cut with it so I may have to run one to test it out
