This is exactly why I can't justify getting a grom lol. They're neat, and I'm sure they're a blast to ride, but their utility is sorely lacking for me. Anywhere I would ride it to, I could just walk/cycle. Anywhere else, I wouldn't feel safe riding it.

That's convenient. I bought mine JUST before they started opening up install locations around the country. Drove from San Diego to Belgrade, Montana over president's day weekend, very quick sprint. Was definitely a long ass drive, but I love driving and the landscapes were great...never driven that far north or through several of those states. Montana was beautiful and I would seriously consider moving there.

Appreciate it! Mine was great, had a solid weekend camping with some close friends. Only thing I need now is my BMW back from the shop lol

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Hey Bill, I hope you guys have a great holiday. I have been rocking these since 2018.
The old saying is true. Buy once, Cry one.
These lights are killer. I love the durability and variety of lights I have setup on my 4 trucks.
You guys truly make some sweet gear.

It looks like even used they’re $5-6k, which is kind of steep for what it is IMO.

The Super Tenere at $8k seems like a much better deal.

It was honestly fun to build up and served a great purpose at the time. I would bring it on camping trips for just me to put put around the area when I was single, but 2 up on a grom L O L. The grom definitely has its fun factor and is pretty damn bitchin around town with how low and small it is, PARK ANYWHERE you want, zip in and out of cars. That stated, the XT225 is only 35lbs heavier and very similar in seat height

LOL, naw thats way too much work to still be on lil shitty 12in rims.

    Super tenere ftw.

Yeah i really wanted to make a trip out of it but my gf at the time had just started a new job and wasn't sure it'd be a good look to take the time off lol. Overall it wasn't too bad, I pushed hard through vegas/salt lake, and took my time in IL/Montana, then pushed hard again trough SLC/Vegas on the way home lol. There were a couple very long driving days that weekend lol.

Yeah I can def see it fitting some needs, just not really any of my own. It'd be a nice accessory for camping trips for sure haha. my YZ is only allowed to do that 6-7 months of the year

LOL tbh I considered that, but I still did pay for one since it was mid-February and I didn't think to bring any gear to crash in it....which I'm not sure why I didn't, because that would have been the plan if the gf had come and we'd made it a trip lol.

so was bored and still looking at totaled bikes. i found a little ninja 400 and was thinking it could be fun to daily or track something idk. something fun and cheap
    upload_2023-11-28_13-56-31.png
well with copart its kinda annoying before you can look at a vehicle you have to pay 100 bucks for a membership and then once you pay you have to wait a week before being able to come see it (super tight window and no weekends) or even placing a bid.. not a super big deal but kinda annoying since id like to look at it first before even paying something but oh well..
i looked into it more and with a cheap bike like a 400 that cost 5500 new buying it totaled doesnt make sense tbh since used ones with some miles on them are about 3-4k out here
plus after buying the bike paying the fees to get it out the gate the membership fee and fixing it, front wheel, gas tank, exhaust, keys, plastics, replace the missing rear seat. id be around 3k and some change...

so kinda crushed my idea of a totaled bike rebuild thing... which sounded fun but oh well i guess..

i do still want to get a larger bike and a true dirtbike but a little 400 sounds like a load of fun.

also no the klx isnt going to be sold lol spent to much time and money on it to let that turd go anywhere!

Yeah if you're gonna go for a 3-400 it shouldn't be too hard to find a lightly used one in clean condition for cheap. I can't imagine the savings of a totaled one would be worth it, after paying for repairs to make it rideable

I feel like these smaller sporty bikes don’t ever depreciate. That’s why I went new vs buying used.

ya true ive seen em locally for around 3-4k pretty normally. a totaled bike and being fixed does make sense when its a 10k plus bike
i think that has to do with where you live ive seen em for decent prices here

Yeah would definitely make more sense to do it for the more expensive ones, like an R6/R1/S1k/ZX6-10R.

RE the depreciation, i find those smaller sportbikes will depreciate a bit from MSRP, and then kinda plateau, barring any crash or serious mechanical/electrical issues.

You'll also get those "no lowballers, I know what I got" people who add levers, underglow, and a slip on and think it's worth MSRP or slightly more. But region definitely makes a difference as well, I know SoCal pretty tough for buying used sport bikes (and used bikes in general) because our riding season is basically year round. At best, prices will drop a bit during winter.

@w.adventures did you end up ordering the Navi mirrors? Went to install today and realized they have different rises, clutch side is taller than brake side. Whoooooooooops. I cut the post and ground down the jam nut and made them just about equal height, but still caught me off guard. I'm about to go find that facebook post where I originally saw it and let them know too hah

But that’s not really comparing to similar bikes either. I get where you’re coming from, but don’t let price lead your decision on what makes sense for the use.

I mean you can get an 1800-15000 dirt bike. They both will leave a grin on your face, but depending on your riding style and what not, you quickly see where things fall off (no pun intended :)
