Have a 2013 Tacoma 2.7L TRD off road. It has these black stripes on either side of the rear fender next to the wheel well. They are faded. Does anyone know what these are called and where can I get replacements. It's like a sticker sort off. What purpose does it serve? See picture, indicated by the arrows.

Mine look just like yours do. I have heard trying to remove them could damage the paint underneath. Can someone verify this?

Using a rubber wheel drill attachment with light pressure will take it off without paint damaged. I had to do it when I wrapped my truck.

If I had a white Tacoma, I don't think I'd be messing too much with the paint.

    But I'm pretty risk averse.

Black? I'd have bet a nickel I've only ever seen those in a transparent film on Super White trucks?

If their only problem is being faded, I'd paint them black again LOOONG before I'd strip them off for replacement. SEM Trim Black is a superb rattlecan black -- it goes on beautifully and lasts well. The protector film may or may not need an adhesion promotor. I'd probably start without, but that's a bit of a guess. Adhesion promotors really do work.
