Shop Time w/T.W. Friends

Cigarettes was my addiction, hardest thing I ever quit. Failed many times. Been tobacco free about 10 or 15 years now.

 

Had a friend at church who drank, did drugs, and smoked. He quit all 3 and said smoking was the hardest. I said what made you quit? He said his daughter told him he stank.

 

I see one problem here, the thermometer is on about 48

 

For sure! My woodshop is in the basement, warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
The garage is another story, I need to get some heat out there.

 

Props to everybody that has their vices under control. Former smoker here, wife said she wouldnt marry me unless I quit, that was the end of that. Still like the smell but I just picture myself in a rocking chair on a front porch somewhere at age 80 with my wife next to me and all the temptation is gone. Church has helped too.

Speaking of buck wall, feller I work kinda close to showed me his, had over 80 euro mounts on his garage wall and said hes got 11 in the house. I've got some catching up to do.

 

I built a fire in the shop stove Monday evening to keep the water lines from freezing in the bathroom, got down in the 20's at night and staying there until tomorrow night. I went out there before bed time last night and it was almost 70 in there. The cat is laying beside the stove and loving it.

 

We had a few heads in the old house, some were in the store, some were in the shop. I had several small tractors on top of the kitchen cabinets. When we moved my wife said she didn't want them in the house so I put em all in the shop. The only two heads in the house are Cole's 2 and they are in his room.

36 years at my job. Started right out of high school. Owner passed away 3 years ago and company was sold to an investment company. Everybody moved up and now my old production manager is running the company. Watching the place slowly go down the shitter

 

A good friend of mine started at a machine shop in high school, 1991 I think. He recently changed jobs because the owner is 91 and his son is trying to take it over. He said he has no clue what he is doing.

After he quit, they keep calling him asking about the machines he was running

 

When we bought our house and closed on it in August we got a loan through Zillow. I've gotten 3 emails this week from them saying I need to sign in for updated closing documents to sign.

We already closed, we have the papers and they sold our loan to another company before we made the 1st payment.

Only thing I'll sign is for a cheaper interest rate or if some mystery person paid it off for us

 

I'm still old school on this subject. Last home I had, I walked into the original bank where we got the loan, after 30 years. Only difference was, when we got the original loan in 89, even with good credit my loan was 12.9%. I was paying less than a percent when the loan concluded...
Fast forward to today and my current home. Found a bank, got a loan and they do not sell them.

 

My inlaws said the home they built in the early 90's their interest rate was almost 15%, ours is 6.5% (we both have perfect credit) and I told my wife we will refinance in a couple years when it comes back down

My buddy who runs the powdercoat business, he bought his home a couple years ago and his rate is 2.5%
