Hi guys it's been a while since I've been on here I recently got into a bad accident. Someone hit me in the rear passenger quarter. Damaged all to heck but that's where all the damage is. I've managed to locate a wrecked 2015 base crew cab like mine. Same code I believe mine is 1g3 his is also the same. But the 3 numbers after are different. Will I be able to buy his bed and take what I need off it and it match correctly? He's charging me 1000 for it the insurance company gave me 6k for the damage. I felt that was low but if I can pocket the rest I would be exceptionally happy. Please any help from the pros here would be appreciated

Sorry to hear about your accident. 1G3 is the Magnetic Grey Metallic paint code from both 2012 and 2015 so you should be OK if that's what color your truck actually is (you didn't mention that and it isn't in your profile details). Don't know what these other 3 numbers are you are speaking of but if you share more details maybe someone can help. Good luck.

Yes sir my truck is metallic grey. I just wanted to be sure there were no shade difference that's super noticable since mine is 2012 vs his being a 2015 Thank you for confirming

I actually just found out that his truck is a V6 truck does that matter? will the paint still match being that it's still the same code? Because my truck is a 4 cylinder :-( I just want to be sure. Just because if I can't find the part in the color I need already and do it myself I'm just going to drop it off at a body shop

Color is independent of engine and other trim features.

But that doesn't mean there can't be color variances or variances in the way the metallic is laid down. However, while you might notice that, most other folks won't.

The color will be the same. The hue may be different depending on how the paint was cared for/applied/sun damage/etc. If you're pocketing 5K......you'll be fine even if you have a pro fix it :D
