I’ve seen people use vinyl dye spray, but these door cards are plastic and you can get away with a good adhesion promoter, primer, and paint.

    I'm a commercial/industrial paint contractor by trade.....
few years back we discovered that RustOlean gray primer in rattle cans from Home Depot.
Once it on something and cured....its not coming off without a fight...

We use it on metal chases/chimney's and exterior stuff that gets beat up by the weather and sun.....

only thing comparable is the flash dry industrial epoxy primers that are that way so it and the finish epoxy doesn't lift or wrinkle the substrate from being too hot....from the toluene ..
And that stuff if they still even make it was $160 gal plus another $40qt for the activator...

You're talking about the inner plastic panels, right?

Personally I wouldn't do it. My '03 interior looks to be the same color as yours. For whatever reason someone had spray painted the steering wheel, ABS cover, and column plastic a light blue, didn't match anything on the rest of the interior. I puzzled over why they did this, doesn't appear it covered anything broken. It just looked like crap after years of use, wearing through, mismatch . . .

Took a couple hours with acetone,a bunch of rags (and rages, still don't know why they did it) and Q-tips to get it all off, out of the textures in the materials. Now it matches the rest of the interior. It may look good on day one but eventually it's going to wear through.

Don’t know why you would paint the inside of the covers, maybe that was misworded and you are wanting to paint the visible side. I painted the top of my steering column black since the tan was severely sun faded, looked frosted sorta. A little roughing with gray scothbrite, alcohol wipe down, rustoleum adhesion promoter per can directions, paint per can directions and then a satin clear coat per directions. Holding up better than expected, looks factory to my eye. Was either that or a search for a replacement or just live with the sun fade. Door arm rests show some fading and will either vinyl wrap or paint them one day, future project if I ever get around to it. Good luck with your project.

And Thank You old silver for the gray primer tip. Can use that on a bunch of projects.

You know its like those plastic headlights.....if you don't put a UV protection clear coat from Maguires or who ever,,,,,,they'll frost over faster than the original...sun and heat is a bi-othch...

Same on those replacement frames......if you don't protect them, they'll rust just as fast, if not faster than the original.

The used trucks that you guys buy, that look freakin awesome......didn't just happen....
someone had to put in the work....

Some of you dont think twice about thousands $ in tires/rims/lifts.....
and then cheap out on fluids and hoses.....which is the life/blood of the vehicle.....beats all...
