I'll just say it, Snell rating means nada to me. I knew nothing of any of the ratings until, again, Fortnine did a video diving into it a bit. The ECE rating is the only one I feel matters. The rest are subpar at best IMO.

I don’t disagree, but I’d rather have Snell over just DOT.

My little thumper is good up until around 7K. I usually stay around 65mph and under to keep those vibes down.

Their stuff is really modular. You don't need to buy the full kit. Look into just the rack and mounting hardware. That would be sufficient for a base to allow you to attach your backpack or a tail bag using rok straps or a cargo net.

just a couple of things tbh
ya makes sense to have all that luggage then. for me its just a lunch and a jacket if i get wet welllll im just grumpy lmao

ya ive been looking into it lately since i know anything actually faster imma use the full speedo lol either gonna get in a lot of trouble or im gonna hurt my self again... i also kinda figured it would be different from the drz since its not a single cylinder working super hard to do all that. plus a 400 is only like 20-30lbs heavier then my bike so its still super light and fun to ride and good mpg for me

What does your bike weigh? Everyone keeps talking about light bikes, and I don't think mine feels particularly heavy, but I also know there are way lighter ones.

I don't know if it's the winter fuel or a combination of the ECU/exhaust/airbox/etc.....but I've dropped from 68 to 63 mpgs the last few tanks. Air filter is fine. I haven't checked the spark plug. Guess I need to go ahead and order 2 of them so they'll be on hand.

Could just be the winter fuel, I usually see about a 10% hit on the 4Runner when they switch (whopping 16-17mpg with the new wheels/tires, ugh). I don't actually track mpg on any of my bikes outside of what they automagically do.

Yeah, mines a bit fatter than that, but still isn't heavy to me. Maybe it's just because I spent years working in a warehouse moving heavy stuff? I'm not particularly strong, I don't think. Fat, out of shape, easily winded, but I don't feel like the 430-ish pounds my bike weighs is anything terrible. Sure, I don't want to drop in on my foot, but it's not hard to move it around. Super Tenere will be a different story, I'm sure.

just a couple of things tbh
so my bike is roughly 320 dry last i looked so heavy for a dirtbike but standard for a dual sport. ive ridden my buddies goldwing its at 600 something and tbh im just not a big fan of heavy bikes
id say its winter gas it always kills any mpg out here with trucks

Winter gas sucks. Try to get ethanol free if you can. It'll help.

Yeah, I've never run a GW. I love the looks, but they are so loaded up with stuff I don't ever want on a bike. Who TF needs a radio on a motorcycle?

What's your upper limit for weight on a bike, then?

Depends on the bike, Ninja 400 and R3 are parallel twin, CBR300R and RC 390 are singles.

I'm just going by what the odometer says :D I don't particularly care.......but also what to make sure I'm not having issues that causes the drop. Bike is running fine and I flog the shit out of it
For me, the weight would easier to feel when in slow trails/moves or off camber spots.

    Goldwings are 800+ lb

    Super Tenere is 584 lb.

IMO the way a bike carries its weight is more important. Goldwings are pretty low slung so apparently they’re not too bad to ride. Plus I think having a heavier bike makes long distance riding a lot more comfortable.

Yep, but they’re so smooth that they don’t feel like singles to be honest.
