We were able to get a 20 year loan, the payment wasn't much more than a 30 year but the savings was a lot.

My journey with alcohol has been a struggle. Before the military, I was mainly a social drinker. Enjoyed drinking and socializing and left it at that. Enter the military, between the constant dorm parties and the roving couch that moved from floor to floor and beer pong tournaments. Got to a point where I would drink a handle of the cheap stuff a night. It got bad. As I got older, the hangovers got harder and harder to recover from and I made a pact with myself to never get hungover again. Gave up hard liquor and switched strictly to Yuengling. It's no a complete cessation right now, however my retirement gift to myself (along with a full sleeve) is to hang up the bottles and cans for good. I currently drink maybe 5-7 beers over an evening but man is it a struggle to keep it under 4. Beer is really my only outlet to stress relief. The day to day operations is stressful in its own way so I wont bore with the details. I hang my hat up in about 3 years so I'll do my damnedest to be alcohol free by then, if not for me then for my kids. I break inside when I sit down and my little 4 year old looks up to me with her beady eyes and asks "you need me to get you a beer daddy?" ... at first it was funny, now its tragic. I never really felt like I was dependent, never thought I was an alcoholic. Maybe I am, maybe I'm not.

We refinanced in 2021. Went from a 30 year mortgage at 3.5% to a 15 year at 2.375%.

Took 7 years and $70k in interest off of the loan.

My wife's great uncle passed away Sunday. Due to his 3 kids drama the funeral may not be until after Christmas o_O

They haven't gotten along in years, there's 3 of them and he was in bad health. One of them was looking after him and she is currently going through a divorce so that doesn't help matters either.

I was 26yo when we bought my 1st home. Got a 30 year note, refinanced several times to get interest down and paid it off in 30 years. This time? At 60 years old? I decided our down payment should be half the house's value. I then financed the rest for, get this, 30 YEARS at a low interest rate. My thinking? We have a super low payment for the rest of our lives. I think we will spend a lot more money a month now than we will when we get older. We don't burden the kids when we die because the house is worth 2X more than it was in 2019, so we have it 75% paid for and the remaining 25% is low interest for my lifetime.

You're going to love this amazing prize package, @six5crèéd.

You are now the proud owner of a week old, half eaten donut, a semi-intact Jack-o-lantern, an Atari controller that mostly works, one half of a pair of chopsticks AND an brake light bulb for a 1963 Fiat 124 Spider!

Alright shop guys. What's the jankiest setup you've macgyvered to make something work?

I'm trying to use this homemade jig on a drill press with no available t-bolts, and no access to bolts/washers to act as stand ins. Two c-clamps, a piece of angle lying in a corner, and voila, jig is held in place!

Dude. My sketchiest setup, and it has been several, including me almost dying. I have done many "safety 3rd" setups and am damn glad to still be here among the living.

I'm officially done in the kitchen. :woot::woot:

The new cold air return that comes up in the pantry seems to work great judging from the arctic blast coming up from the cellar - it isn't attached to anything yet. Some cardboard and foil tape improved that for the time being.

Tomorrow is back to being a cellar dweller. :pout:

I have used that exact setup many times.

As far as my jankiest... :D
I work alone and often need to manufacture an "extra hand" using: engine crane, forklift, come-a-long, pickup truck, floor jack, garden tractor, Jeep Cherokee, ropes, chains, levers, on and on...
