There are a couple of variations, the manager with the aforementioned Taco told me when I inquired. He said they have to look at it in person... I can't recall the specifics but mine wasn't the $95 version, it was the $120 last year. Might have gone up due to labor, might be due to specific parts. Convenient though, super quick with an appointment.

The shop probably did nothing wrong. A tight bolt here, an embedded seal there ... shop rates (while worth it) are NOT $5/hr.

The OEM stuff varies, so the reroute work isn't always the same, is all. The shop was great to work with and explained it all, even let my kids see what they were doing. Not all tacos are the same.

Your idea of a wash is peeling off the vinyl wrap every few years and putting a new wrap on

So got dug into the truck last night to fix the cv I fucked up on the crown king run. Got it all torn out but the cv seems fine. While it was installed I could rotate it freely like the vehicle is moving forward. It would lock correctly tho if I rotated it in reverse. Some teeth on the retaining ring are chewed up but not enough for it to be a problem. I have never taken apart a front differential before so I am trying to think if it could be a problem in there. Anyone have any idea that I am not thinking of? I would hate to open up the boot of the cv and it be fine. And I really dont want to drop the diff for no reason aswell. I do have arb manual locking hubs on it. I guess I could have fucked that up. I can try pulling the passenger side and swap them and see if I just messed that up. hhhmmmmm.. I guess that would be the next easiest and cheapest test to try. Sometimes it just helps writting things out to got through a thought process.

I'll try and upload it at lunch.

I'd start with the locking hub.

You can always drain the oil from the diff and see if there's any metal chunks that come out.
