Have the opportunity to pick up a Widow Jane Decadence for what should be MSRP or close to it. What do you guys think, pull the trigger or pass??

Never had Widow Jane but the reviews on the Decadence are intriguing. Is it worth it?

Don’t know the price yet. A guy I met manages a store and lets people know what’s coming in. His prices range from MSRP to a little over.

I know it’s not C batch cool, but still a tasty pour. Cheers.

They’re both smooth pours for sure.

Wheated whiskeys do hold a special place in my heart (and on my shelf) though.

Thanks to @jandrews for helping me complete this little collection here.

While some may scoff at regular Blanton’s, I’ve had a pour of the gold before and it’s genuinely excellent. Excited to try the SFTB.

I should start typing my sample labels. Handwriting was never worth much.

    So:

Springbank 10y, from Campbeltown, at 92 proof. GlenDronach 12y, distillery of the same name, 86 proof (Owned by Brown-Forman). Oban 14y, Oban distillery, 86 proof (Owned by Diageo).

    The short version:

    Springbank > Oban > GlenDronach

But that's a subjective call and there's a lot to unpack there.

All of these are unpeated, so we're talking about the "bright, sweet, fruity" Scotch profile.

The Springbank has the most forward nose and palate. The finish is hotter than it should be for 92 proof.

The GlenDronach has slight peat notes, but they are very gentle. Has the thickest mouthfeel of the batch and may be the best value in the group by MSRP.

The Oban is very...delicate is the word I'd use. If you're distracted or moving too fast you'll miss the complexity. Everything it does is light, but that's consistent and well balanced from nose to palate to finish. Thinnest mouthfeel, but that is not always bad when you want a light dram.

Here what one of the local insta-famous guys is doing. I may or may not buy a bottle when this dude fills it and bottles it. Depends on price I guess.
I imagine he’s going to get all sorts of whiskeys to pour in there.
