My dad can't go to work because I have COVID and is working from home; I have been on this earth for almost 35 years and have never gone through anything like this.

My parents and I are currently at each other's throats because I feel fine and want to be out and about, but I can't leave the house because my girlfriend has my Tacoma and I am basically stuck in my room; I also refuse to wear a mask unless I am really close to my parents (getting my temperature taken, etc).

Back in late August 2022, my dad got COVID on a business trip to Florida and gave it to my mom. This persisted into early September; I got my bedroom, the hall bathroom, and the basement. My parents got the master suite, one of the guestrooms, and the back patio. We would take turns in the kitchen; I spent most of my time in the basement playing video games, and my parents also paid for me to go out and eat so I'd stay out of the house when not in the basement. I was out of work for about two weeks because I cohabitated with people who had COVID and I refused to wear a mask at work for days after they tested negative, but my dad paid me my salary.

It's a lot different when you're the one who doesn't have COVID.

In my autistic, heavily libertarian mind, I have a very hard time seeing this as anything but punishment, or just an inconvenience. If anything, I am getting better and I would be able to be out and about if I didn't keep testing positive.

My parents have reserved a hotel room and are going to be dividing time between it and the house so I don't have to stay in my room all the time.

You could look at it this way, at least you have the ability to stay home.
Some people can't, they have to act "fine" and go to work anyways. Else, they aren't making money to pay the bills.
I think it's a good idea you are staying in as much as you can.

Do I think it should be required? No.
I don't think anyone should be required to do anything they don't want go. ( in this matter)

I know a few folks that would literally have to choose between work, medical treatment, or financial ruin if they got covid.
If I catch it, I'll either have to get better or die trying.

Can relate, my wife was potentially exposed a couple of times and we had to stay away from each other for a couple of days until the negative test. That ain't easy to do in a one bathroom house.

Break out the video games too perhaps man!

My grandmother introduced my cousins and me to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in about 1995. She rented it from the video store and we watched it in her bedroom since my grandpa was watching something in the basement. It became one of my favorite movies, for obvious reasons, and I eventually ended up getting my own VHS copy of it; I probably still have it somewhere, and yes, I still have two working VCRs!

My parents bought me 101 Dalmatians on VHS in about 1992, and I watched that movie so much that tape wore out; I actually have a vivid memory of this happening, so I'm thinking it was about 1993. It was the part where Pongo is dragging Roger around the park in attempt to meet Anita and Perdita, so it wasn't that far into the movie, and it failed so spectacularly that I saw the tape inside the videocassette tear on the TV screen!

I was upset, and money wasn't the issue here. Disney had put 101 Dalmatians back in the vault and it unfindable at any store. Amazon was not a thing so my mom couldn't just order a new one, either. I had gotten Pinocchio on VHS for Christmas in 1992, and I never watched that or any of my other Disney movies to the point of just self-destructing; I also watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang quite often and it never failed. Maybe that copy of 101 Dalmatians was just a lemon?

Your place is only one bathroom?!?! I've only ever lived in a 1-bathroom house once, and it was a WW2-era shitbox provided by the US Navy while my dad was stationed in California. I've got two new video games on order that should be here this weekend...

The Jungle Book is probably my favorite Disney movie.
    Baloo was my favorite character.

Yes sir. Mine is almost 100 years old and was originally a one floor summer cottage. Not really an issue for the 2 of us though I can imagine when my inlaws lived here, 4 people to 1 bathroom? No thank you.

I am hoping to get some quality gaming time in later tonight myself. Remind me, you have the PS5 I believe but any others?
