How do you keep the knob so clean looking? Mine has lots of small scuff marks.

I have it out, sitting on my dresser("It belongs in a MUSEUM!"-Indiana Jones). I have three, 1.the Ti 5sp/2. SS hybrid w/ Ti core V1 5sp/3.Delrin hybrid w/ brass core AT (retro Toyota design) that I made for my Tundra but currently not using it.

Oooh, very nice! I imagine that brings both happiness and a bit of empty nest sadness.

Nothing inherently wrong with it, but it was just a lot to deal with one after another on my end. I had to turn off all my forum alerts to keep some degree of sanity. Been in Houston exactly 2 years now and still haven't been able to find the lathe that I want. One popped up in Santa Fe(NM), cool story it was on set for the Longmire TV series and the SFX guy was parting out the trailer. He never responded to my inquiry though.

Here is the lathe I want. It will be mine one day. Austrian made, discontinued some time ago so it has to be found used. I figured Houston would be a mecca for used equipment like this, and it sorta is, but mostly larger equipment and very rarely do you see reasonably sized equipment that is worth looking at.

Interestingly, no sadness. They're doing good and seem to be spreading their wings. We're looking forward to traveling to see them. Just got back from a visit over Turkey Day. It was a lot of fun.

It sounds like you are doing well there? Erica was in town with the girls a few weeks back for a dance things and liked it, except for all the toll roads. :p

Well that's cool, always nice to have a reason to traverse the country. Not sure what kind of dance thing they went to, but if CP Dance was part of it ... my coworker's wife works for them and traveling all over doing competitions. Neat stuff. I hope they got to some good restaurants ... many of those here and I'm getting fat.
Oh yes, after a predictably rocky start I've already risen to top ranks here at the "new" facility ... starting to travel again and will be training "advanced" modeling/programming soon as part of a committee involving the remaining 5 Canada/US sites. There is a serious lack of skill in the network, basically everywhere outside of HQ and we're tired of everybody bailing and forwarding us all the complicated work as it does not justify their need for new machinery. Also, is kinda scary as we now have Solidworks here and trying to get as competent with it as I am on Fusion/Inventor.

Many road trips as well. Make a 3 point arc from Tampa, Sedona and Denver and I've been (pretty much) to every major attraction under that hood.

It was LA Dance Magic. Our daughter is part of the staff trying to build a resume. Crazy way to kick off a freshie year at school. Basically the same stuff, traveling around and such.

Oh yeah. There was lot of praise for the food. Made me hungry hearing about it.

Congrats! I was just talking to an old hat that was complaining about competency and such. It's a rough reality and not sure how to solve it. We had SW at the last place. The current one has been heavy on Inventor for close to 10yrs now. Both are pretty slick.

Most of our travels have been N-S these days. So damn nice with everything being relatively close or a short, easy flight away. Sedona is amazing.

I still follow this thread hoping to see a Ti one for sale. I finally got to where I can afford one...after Christmas anyway. :fingerscrossed:

Looks like a beauty of a machine! There is a duck call manufacturer where I am located and he has some very old school lathes that he uses. While many call companies are using CNC setups, he turns his by hand on his lathes. Solid calls and I appreciate the work that goes into it.

Hope you are able to find the Emco in the future!

I tried to print a knob. Finishing was PITA and it wasn't even in the same sport compared to the knob that @7r41lbr34k3r made for me. It was printed on a machine that at the time we were going to use for production aerospace parts.

To shape it like the V1 / V2 knobs, it would likely print worse? Just a guess.

The mark on the shaft was from when I started sanding there and realized I needed to go with power tools.

Tony's knob has good heft though. Makes up for any surface imperfections.

It was a bit larger diameter than the one from Rick. But, they both fit in my hand nicely. Rick's knob was 162g, IIRC? Sups light.

I can give out a few files if you want to print. My designs have been knocked off already, and Etsy sales are a fraction of what they used to be as the product life cycle is about over really. Undercutting those fools will be a good thing. My Etsy shop is getting very close to switching over to digital only as it is hardly worth a post office trip to send physical goods anymore, especially since (last Jan) a tornado permanently closed the only convenient PO location for me.

Oh god, I forget, it was definitely under 200g though.

I love the feel of the one I managed to get, but I still need to clock it with shims, and install my URD short shift, Redline boots and center armrest to finish the job.
Still debating painting the shift pattern (thinking primer, color, then clear - multiple coats of each).

I didn't think the Ti ones were even lighter? If so, I'm impressed.
