Anyone with a 3rd gen that turns on 4WD and have it just blink sometimes and not engage?

I’ve noticed several times, turning the knob, sometimes it will not engage. Sometimes driving slow, sometimes stopped, letting off the gas while driving, pressing the gas. No rhyme or reason. Seems to happen (or not work) when raining outside.

 

Yep and it’s also happened to me trying to disengage it after a trail run. The symbol just blinks endlessly. I’d say it happens about 10% of the time? Usually when it blinks for a long time, it will eventually engage/disengage with a clunk.

 

My 2nd Gen did that. On the transfer case the connectors were corroded. does this help?

I’ve never had an issue thankfully, but I will only engage mine when at a full stop and either in Park or Neutral. Hopefully your issue is just a fluke and rectifies itself on its own.

I hope so though it’s happened, or not several times. A couple were when it’s raining or snowing (few years ago).
It’s not a constant and think it might be related to something getting wet. Intermittent issues are a pain.
I usually try to cycle it on and drive a mile a week or so, so keep the inside good.

Here's the easy instructions - remove the cap covering the t-case 4x4 actuator. Three or four screws/bolts. Look at the contacts inside. Shouldn't take 15 minutes.

I dunno - I mean, as a resume builder? Might be worth it.

Selectively reading the duties: "The Grizzly Bear Conflict Manager is responsible for coordinating grizzly bear conflict management in MT, WY, ID, and WA jointly with state agencies, tribes, and Wildlife Services (WS) according to grizzly bear recovery plan, Interagency Grizzly Bear Guidelines, and inter-agency agreements."

I'd get to coordinate (make-happen) Grizzly conflicts? Like, set them up? Work the logistics?

Alright bears, let’s sit down and work this out. Why do you always have to be stealing trash from the trash cans? I also need you to stop eating people, that’s highly frowned on and will get you bears shot. Pass that info to the other bears.

Good evening everyone.

That's my biggest fear with my 2nd Gen- I will need the 4wd to work and it will be the 1 time that something electrical decides to shit the bed and leaves me stranded. I love the t-case lever in the T4R and the old beater GMC.

 

It only seems to not work when I try to use it in rain or snow… I’ll try and take a look under there at some point.

I’ll say, I don’t mind not having to lock the hubs like an older Tacoma lol
