Came across these FJR parts as I was browsing craigslist...I know you mentioned your new bike has an aftermarket slip-on so figured I'd pass this along in case you're interested. It's only the left side though

Nooo the gym is my social time too! One of the guys I climb with also rides motorcycles so it’s always fun to talk to him about bikes.

    Appreciate the head's up.

Still undecided on if I'm going to change out the mufflers or not. The Leo Vince have a nice throaty sound without being too obnoxious so far. Of course I've really only put about 60-70 miles on it so far. Hoping it's warm enough this afternoon to give it a good bath and get some decent pictures of it to post up. Parts are starting to trickle in so this weekend might be a mini tech day for me with installing goodies. I also have a remote starter kit coming for the Tacoma and we have her family Christmas party on Sunday so I'm not sure how much I'll actually accomplish.

Nah, I’d rather get a bike suited for commuting so I can do both.

I mean, other than @BkerChuck I probably ride more than most people here so… :anonymous:

so between the two which would you all choose and why? ive been reading between the ninja400 and the cbr500r both good bikes one is better for off the line and overall speed while one is better at mpg and less vibes since lower rpm redline

For the same price, CBR for sure. IMO it looks way better and has a bit more power than the Ninja I believe.

    Your commute is 85 miles/day?

I used to commute 100 miles a day on my WR250X supermoto but I was younger and dumber. My back is still aching from yesterday.

cbr is 3k more and slower overall since it has long gears and a redline of 9k vs the ninja where it has short gears and a redline of 12500 and at 6k
but cbr gets 72mpg while the ninja i think gets 61?

forgot to add yes the cbr has a tiny bit more power at 44hp vs the ninja at 39-40hp
nah its about 50miles each day if i take the highway if no highway its roughly 60 i try and live close ish lol

maaan sounding like an old man over here!

I guess I’d take whichever one feels more relaxed on the highway if you’re planning on riding on the highway a lot.

Also Im on the bus right now and BSing here on TW instead of freezing on the KTM so its got its upsides lol

The CBR is the same engine as my CB500X. I don't know what the Ninja is rocking. My only complaint is that it's 180° crank so it's viby toward the top of the tach, however, the different body of the CBR may dampen it better than the more bare construction on the X. If the Ninja is a 270° parallel I'd go that route on paper. I wouldn't buy either without trying them out though.

ya true but do they let you take bikes for a test ride? ive never looked at new so i wouldnt know lmao to me both bikes look great and both are around the same power tbh since the ninja uses shorter gears to keep up with the cbr. from reading the cbr is a bit more highway friendly since it has a lower rpm and wont vibrate as much compared to the ninja.

haha that works for sure! but thats also why id just drive my truck into work lol

Other than BMW I’ve never seen a brand allow you to test ride anything unfortunately. Maybe you could try renting a bike?

With the KTM I just read/watched a lot of reviews and then went for it.

I'd be looking at the maintenance intervals as well. If you're planning on actually putting miles on valve checks become a fact of ownership and the less often that needs done the more money stays in your pocket. Now if you're capable of doing them yourself it's not so bad but most people end up paying to have them done so put that into your equation.

ya maybe renting it but unsure if any place locally does that since well nothing of interest really here for bikes haha. it will most likely be
    A. look at reviews and go for it.
    B. see if a friend has one but i dont think anyone i know does... most i know run adventure or super bikes
