If I may ... a few months back someone posted an image of just the sexiest collection of enough clamps to hold a 30-ft spiral staircase. Given the people who read this particular thread, can this image be found again?

Finishing up a keepsake box for a xmas present. The inside of the lid has a portrait of pops on it. Love figured walnut when its finished and gets that 3D wavy gravy thing going.

I worked long and hard today cutting up the rest of the ash I need for the bench legs and frame. Man I'm whipped. Carried all the 9' slabs myself and ripped all the wane off. Then cut it to 7" wide boards 2" thick.
    Here we go.....
    20231125_135803.jpg
When i was .illing this log 10 years ago I hit a couple of nails, i just cut that section out with a chainsaw. This tree was in someones backyard, probably nails from hangjng a bird house or feeder.
    20231125_142633.jpg
I didnt get much out of this slab wide enough, the bottom was worse than the top. Bht some of the wood went back in the garage for use someday.
    20231125_150800.jpg
This was the last slab from the 2 logs, ripped the wane off while i was set up and used it for a miter saw table, lol. It went back in the garage too.

The reward for my work today, 7"x2" ash lumber.
    20231125_161131.jpg
Then i rough cut that to 5' and 3' lengths.

I worked well past dark, I wanted to get it done today. Supposed to rain here tomorrow.
This is all the stock I need for the legs and cross stretchers.
    20231125_180636.jpg
Scrap and wane for the fire pit.
    20231125_180712.jpg
More scrap for the fire pit. Carpenter ants did a number on this tree.
    20231125_180731.jpg
Then I carried it all down to my shop and stickered it so it can acclimate a bit.
    20231125_183916.jpg
Pretty good reward for about 7 hours of work.
    20231125_183933.jpg
Now the weather can turn to crap and I won't care, lol. I have enough stock to keep me busy for awhile.

First leg is out of the clamps and jointed on 2 sides.
I'll cut them to length after the other 2 sides have been planed.

Been working 10 and 12 hour days but I've managed to get down to the shop to take legs out of the clamps and put another glue up in the clamps.
Here I'm sealing some imperfections with CA, gluing small knots etc.
    20231129_195018.jpg
Here's 2 of the outside faces.
    20231129_195031.jpg
Pretty good crack in this one, it won't effect it strength wise.
    20231129_195039.jpg
Last leg is in the clamps.
    20231129_195056.jpg
Next step will be to regroup, deal with scrap that I've made and clean up a little. Then I have cross stretchers to glue up.

My dremel broke on my half way through so I stopped and stained it. Was getting bored with shaping it anyway.. one of those days I shouldn’t have started anything cause I lacked the needed patience. Either way I’m 65% happy with how it came out and it’s going in my office anyway so it’s mostly only me that is gonna stare at it

Looks great to me! This is a really cool idea, and would be an awesome gift for a kids first buck. I know I'd be happy to have one for my own harvest!

I burn my scrap outside. Wish I had a wood burner indoors.

I'd prefer to burn outside exactly the way you do, wife unit hates firepits though.

I used to have a wife that tried to tell me everything I could and couldn't do. She did me a favor divorcing me. Now I have a very easy going understanding woman by my side. I don't tell her what to do and vise versa. We just are. Wood shop is in the basement, no complaints there either.
    I'm a happy man again.

similar here . . . as long as LOML has a spot for her vehicle, she's good with me pretty much taking over the garage.

The garage is mine too, lumber storage and mechanical stuff. But she knew what she was getting into when we where dating. I said its going to stay this way. But I also gave her a room for all her sewing machines and craft stuff. She has a big sewing machine in the living room, I'm good with that. Like I said I don't tell her what she can or can't do.
