Nowhere close to me does test rides, but some places do according to the internet. You could do a private rental of them for a day to see which you like. There is some kind of Turo equivalent for motorcycles. No idea what it would cost.

Sadly it seems the IMS motorcycle show are a thing of the past. All of the major players used to bring demo fleets and offer test rides on just about everything in their line up and all you had to do was wait in line and show proof of a motorcycle license. Harley dealerships usually have at least 2 demo models for test rides. They declare 2 new bikes as demos and every 4-6 months change those out for 2 other models. Shop I worked for it was generally a Sportster and some version of Big Twin.

Yeah Leo Vince makes nice exhaust and if it's not too loud I'd keep it too. That sounds like a fun weekend to me. Weather is supposed to be mid 50s here, hoping no rain so I can get some riding in.

Also need to order tires for the Super Duke and I'm leaning more towards a sport touring tire like the Pilot Road 6 or Angel GT. You've run both right?

That's actually one of the things that swayed me more toward the FJR as opposed to the Concours 14. Yamaha wants valve checks every 26k miles but that same engine has remained virtually unchanged since 2001 in most of the world and 2003 in the US and Canada. Owner's groups and forums offer sufficient information so that I can feel comfortable that it won't really need any shim changes until the second or likely third check. We also have forum members who host tech days at their homes where we can all get together and help each other do the service work that individually might be beyond our skill sets.

I've run the Angel GT to the wear bars. The 2013 I just bought has Road 6s on it but I haven't ridden that enough yet to form a good opinion. I've been running the PR4GT on my 2014 and just recently installed the second set. Angel GT only lasted about 8500 miles on the FJR. PR4GT went over 12k miles.

10k intervals is why I didn’t want to get a 390 ADV. Also for the next bike I buy Im trying to find a used one that hasn’t had enough miles to require a valve check yet so I know that at least it wont need one for a while and I can be the first to actually do it.

With the Versys it needed a check every 15k miles and I dont think it had one done till I got in there at 34k miles.

It's all dependent on the dealership.

https://www.twistedroad.com/ is a bike rental for personal bikes. Not sure what's in your area, but it may be an option.

Another thing to note is that the CBR was just redone for the 2022 MY so you may be able to find newer used ones for a bit of a discount. Though, the CA bike market is absurd, so I wouldn't hold out for any kind of deal. I actually wish I could exclude CA from my cycletrader searches, as I won't buy from that BS state. Sorry. Rant over.

I did a Yamaha demo day a few years back. You signed up for the bikes you wanted to ride on a first come/first serve basis. They led us in a group, think it was only 5-10 miles or so but still fun. Depending how crowded it is you could be there for a while. I rode a Bolt and an MT-09.

just a couple of things tbh
so the ninja is 26k according to the manual for the aus bikes the us say 16k as well
the cbr is at 16k according to the manual

with both bikes most say they look at them and normally dont need anything done to them unless they are running a performance tune or raced a lot
not sure if there is any bike rentals out here id have to look but i do know if they do exist it will be mainly harley... out here in missouri its the main thing since we had a harley plant out here.

not a bad idea tbh to find a year older or something like that with less monies ive seen a few ninja 400s out here for around 4k used with about 2k-5k miles some modded some not or some scratched up from dropping it.
its rather hard to get into it here since its rare it seems so everyone and their mother shows up to try and ride them lol

Plan a vacation somewhere. Fly out, rent a bike to ride, enjoy the vacation. Florida might be nice. I'm sure you could find both bikes there.

You do know that snow is actually an acronym not a word right?
    Shit No One Wants

I wouldn't care if we made it through the entire winter without seeing that white nonsense. 44 degrees outside now with the sun shining.

I like snow. Get depressed if I go a year without seeing it. It also keeps the coastal idiots from invading my home state.
