I'm one of those crazies that actually likes snow. I got new tires on the 4R I need to try out, I like snowboarding, shit I even like riding the tiny bikes around in it haha. The most fun I've had on the CT90 was ripping it around my old cul de sac in 3 or so inches of snow. I could not get that thing to lose grip it was awesome.

Plus I get a weird sense of satisfaction standing in a freshly shoveled driveway just straight flexing on all the other neighborhood dads who haven't touched theirs while drinking an ice cold PBR :anonymous:

edit: this was the second most fun time ripping around:

California has more than its fair share of crap but you can’t get any better in terms of motorcycling in the US.

I mean the last few posts have been about snow and having to put the bike away for the winter which is unheard of here.

What?! I love flying. Always wanted to be a pilot as a kid.

A riding vacation wouldn't be bad, right?

I agree, the climate and laws for motorcycles are great. But I like my guns, bullets, V8s, and not paying for taxes in a state I don't live in more than that. I'd move to Southern Utah before I'd ever think about CA.

I'm not sure I actually "hate" snow but I could live without it. Born and raised here in PA and been in this area my whole life so I'm certainly used to it. Just finding as I get older the cold seems to bother me more and I just don't see any advantages to it. We don't get enough to justify having snowmobiles in my area and they put so much crap on the roads your car, truck, or motorcycle just get destroyed way before their time.

Gotta consider though, a single is much easier to check valves (set motor rotation once) and if adjustments are needed, cams are small. That stated, the valve check on my parallel twin Supertenere when I got it was easy - though I didnt have to change any clearances... same for the inline 4 on my 919 the one time I did it everything was in spec.

The weather and family is about the only thing keeping me here in CA

Hate flying personally but accept it as a sometimes necessary evil. Willing to tolerate for a trip to Isle of Man for the TT races......

I can relate to it being less fun as I age. Realistically, I think the Oregon coast is ideal for climate. Seldom snows, and is usually between 65°-75° with lows around 45°. I like rain, too. Same issues as CA though.

I guess thankfully (for me) I’m not into guns and motorcycling is more important than any other hobby for me so I need good weather, fun roads and the ability to lane split. I won’t live anywhere where I can’t get all three.

I feel like most of the work is getting to the valves themselves (removing bodywork, etc). Once you’re in there, adding a cylinder or two doesn’t make a huge difference. I guess there’s a higher chance you might need to pull cams with more cylinders but even then the cams are just a few bolts. Pulling fairings and the tank without damaging or scratching anything is harder IMO.

Not the good roads or lane splitting?!

Sadly the one time I had a chance I passed on it.

2000 I was working fro a Harley Davidson/Buell/Triumph dealership and the owner was setting up a trip to go. Included shipping your bike to England, airfare, special tour of the Triumph factory, ride into Scotland, then Isle of Man for several days of the TT. Asked my ex g/f and I if we wanted to go but sadly we had just signed a contract to have a house built and money was tight. Believe it or not the owner, my boss, offered to front us the money and to allow us to pick out 2 Triumph bikes which he would just make into demo units so that we weren't without our own bikes for the time needed to ship bikes back and forth. I just couldn't see myself indebted to my boss like that for close to 6k when we would soon have a house payment like that.

I love snow but refuse to live in it due to the rust and salt issues.

just a couple of things tbh
yes but thats the only thing it has tbh lol the cost of living is nuts the laws are pretty stupid... no offense to you or the other guys in here but ive never had good interactions with the ones i knew online from gaming... cali has nothing to offer me that i couldnt just go visit once and then leave tbh...
yes but id be alone sadly... my buddies that ride wouldnt do something like that and my friend who wants a bike well she cant ride legally yet or even have the money to do something like that plus we both would rather drive haha.
yup singles are much much easier! where as the ninja it seems the valve adjuster things need replaced at the 16k mark and for a shop to do the work it cost around 950 (depending on how the shop wants to screw you) where as the honda just needs an adjustment and its good to go.

ya idk id prob still leave lmao

My town rarely salts, and if they do it's magnesium chloride mixed with beet juice and is way less corrosive than straight salt. Not an issue for me luckily.

Mag chloride is terrible if you don't rinse it off. They use it on dirt roads to keep the dust down, and it's a mess. I hate it. Colorado uses it as well, and they get plenty of vehicle rot.

Riding vacation is my absolute first choice. One of my favorite trips so far was in 2018 my g/f and I rode form here in PA to Spearfish, SD for a FJR1300 forum meet. Took 4 days to get out collecting pressed pennies for an Iron But challenge ride. Spent 4 days riding in the Black Hills and hanging out with like minded riders. Took 4 days to get home collecting more pennies and visiting tourist stuff. Hit Carhenge in Nebraska, the I-80 World's largest truck stop, and the American Pickers original store in Iowa among other stuff.

I want to see Yosemite but she doesn't want to ride that far. Told her to name the airport and I'll pick her up there.

If you come out to Yosemite or this area in general I’d love to meet up and show you some local roads!

Better than straight sodium chloride though, at least
