My Off-road was rated 19/23 when I bought it in 2019, so the new truck has literally no MPG improvement. Improved riding characteristics or not, I wont bite on a 50K new truck that offers no efficiency gains over its predecessor. Lets see what the hybrid offers in six months.

Dealer told me February for Hybrids. Based on the Grand Highlander and new Land Cruiser efficiency, it’ll probably be around 27 combined.

Hybrids are not coming in February. They will not enter production until at least April.

Yeah, agreed. I think the biggest issue here is the huge jump they did from 2022 to 2023 pricing and now this.

Given the costs, I'd have a hard time justifying it over a Tundra Limited. 4wd tundra crew cab limited is $587XX on the site. Add in a few decent options and you're right above $60k but everywhere I look they're putting $3k-$5k discounts on them. You're right into the same territory then. Makes no sense.

I don't think this is quite comparable tho, the $48,XXX price is with factory options, add-ons, and destination. Take those addon's dealer add-ons and destination off, the cost fro the truck is 45,440. Not to mention that trim started at barely over $40k.

The only thing that would makes sense with this price for the new limited is if there was only one option to choose from - the color of the truck.

It doesn't feel like it. My wife has a '23 Highlander with it and it putts around town just fine tbh. She gets almost 29mpg tank average in it too (she does so mostly highway). HUGE difference in how it drives when you put 89 in it vs 87 tho.

If you want to standardize the price discussion, see https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...you-pay-for-your-tacoma.788660/#post-28230691

But until you can actually buy a 2024, it seems a little early to try.

Quoting my own post. I misread somewhere, I guess it starts at $52,100. Not that it's much better. I just like to be consistent and accurate.

That’s before destination. Almost 54k with destination.

Now that official Cyber Truck pricing has been released, I wonder how much market share it might steal from Toyota if you can get a Cyber Truck for $53k. Honestly not much more than a well equipped Tacoma OR, and the gas savings will offset the majority of the difference. Two completely different vehicles, sure, but curious how it will play out with regards to market share. Competition is always good for consumers though.

Oh I also think it looks like a clown truck. I don’t understand the allure from a visual perspective, but I stopped doubting Tesla can sell vehicles in mass amounts a couple of years ago. I believe they will hit their targets of selling 250k Cyber Trucks a year, because even if they have to lower prices 20% to hit those figures, which they can because their margins are so good, they will.

So then the question to be answered is, who will they take market share from. I believe since the Cyber Truck doesn’t have a real full sized bed that it won’t be taking the majority of market share from full size trucks like the F150. I think it might be more like a shift of 65% from other midsize trucks, and 35% from full size truck models.

I am going to go with less than 1% of 1%.
