CURT 16100 Industry-Standard 5th Wheel Hitch Rails and Brackets, Gloss Black, 25,000 Pounds, GLOSS BLACK POWDER COAT https://a.co/d/hEGnlC9

You need to get this^ .

You will most likely have to shorten the rails. The L brackets mount to the side of the frame.

I won't lie, installing a 5 the wheel hitch kinda sucks. I've done 4 and I got to do 2 more soon.

If serious about using this to pull a 5'er, I'd take the bed off and have someone fab up a mount to the frame rails. Save you the weight of the truck bed, too. As someone who has scaled my 2nd gen Tacoma with 3500 pounds of combined payload, I've always been curious how my truck would handle a 5th wheel if I stripped all my extraneous heavy stuff....

@YF_Ryan hit the nail on the head. "If serious about using this to pull a 5'er, I'd take the bed off and have someone fab up a mount to the frame rails."

Well, that's what the kits I posted do.

No 5th wheel hitch is mounted to the bed. They are all mounted to the frame.

Yes I understand, I would never put weight on it and run it in high gear

After my FIL bought his F2/350 with the godzilla motor and his little 5th wheel TT he made some joke about my little truck... My wife stopped me from explaining I regularly haul around a lot more than his pin weight... in my little truck...

Yes but that sounds expensive, I'll probably just drill holes in the bed, and the brackets go down and mount the frame, then the 5th I have would somehow fit on the rails

Yes, in low gear, it has tremendous capability

Also that truck I am using had a NEW FRAME installed in 2018, so it should be a good strong frame

    Is this long term?
Really seems like something different would be better.
The Tacoma with newish frame pending condition should have some value.
Pretty amazing what these little trucks can do.
    Good luck!

It does. Those plates are universal. Your saw horse will drop right into those plates. (Attach saw horse to the plates 1st, position the saw horse / plate assembly where you want it in the bed and mark the holes you need to drill in the bed. You will need spacer washers because the bed has ridges. After that attach the L brackets and drill the holes in the frame.

If you are using this only around the farm, I'd have no issue moving the assembly back in the bed 6-8".

If anyone gives you grief, have them look at the stamped sheet metal that is used to mount the receiver hitch. A 5th wheel hitch is miles better than what we got from the factory.

There are lots of You Tube vids on installing a 5th wheel hitch, but non are for our compact trucks. The concept is the same, but you will just need to narrow those before plates.

I would go on facebook market place and grab a an early 2000's chevy 1500/2500 under 200K

A beat up white body one should be around 1K.......

    I have a buddy that scored a 2003 farm chevy1500 with 175K on it....for $750.....
all he had to buy was chevy starter(cheap)....

there was a ball mounted in the center of the bed....it was used to move hay around...

that was 3 1/2 yrs and 20K ago........

my head cost more than that...........................

That way you dont have to butcher yours.......everybody here ...is cringing....
    including your leaf pack....
