head unit problem

I got around to installing my new h.u. (it's actually an old h.u., bought it a LONG while back and never got around to installing it). Not sure about the warranty either, most likely already expired. My problem is that NONE of the RCA outputs in the back give out sound. NONE. I have tried several times and nothing. I am looking for a budget, tight fit, maximum usage overall fix.

Basically looking for something to allow me to connect my amps (only 2, one for bass and the other for mids/highs up front only) yet be able to control both with one remote.

 

My first thought is to check the manual to see if there is a setting to enable or disable the outputs. I know many have these in the settings section for the rear/sub out.

 

I have 3 sets of RCAs in the back, plugged into ea. individually and still nothing. I get sound through it normally but not through the RCAs.

What if it's just you amps not working? blown fuses? Bad connections?

 

everything else works fine, usb plugged in and read, cd, mp3's, etc. work as well as audio adjustments.

 

you paid $1000 for that thing?! Its in spanish btw...

 

nope, I know my amps were working fine period because before I installed this I had them wired to my OE h.u.

no and I know, did a quick search only looked for pictures for the front/back of h.u. to get an idea of what it looks like as well as features ... physical that is.

I have yet to run into a Pioneer that has that or has not had audio come out the back rca(s) via setting or what have you. all of the h.u.'s I have gotten all allow me to connect via rca without problems or usage of settings to hear sound, to adjust yes. I find that odd that everything else works fine except the rcas.

 

pix of truck are floating around here, mainly in the "Street Trucks" forum on here. as for my bikes, they are both taken apart, have to clean and reconfigure build (nothing fancy, change of colors, additions, leaving room for pay).

Have you checked the speaker wires to see if you are getting anything? As said above, maybe a setting to turn the pre-outs on/off.

 

went through the manual and tried the settings, still no sound.

 

So you cant get anything from the amp in the hu either? Or does it have an amp built in? Just trying to narrow down if it is putting out any sound or if it is in the pre outs.

 

time for a new stereo.

 

I get audio from the h.u. connection fine. the pre-outs won't work. find it odd that not one of them works, is it common for the pre-outs to blow out? I have yet to have a deck where the pre-outs did not work (even when I have gotten used decks, at most the faceplate stopped showing the digital stuff).

well after thinking a lot and assessing my funds lol. I am going to go with a simple eq. which I can place in the storage cubby of my dash kit. still have the old LOC that I was using, looks more beat than it did when I first installed it
