I dabble in accoustic 6 string and 5 string banjo.
Haven't played in a few. Would have to wipe the dust off and probably restring. lol

Edit: Maybe we record a song together.
We can call it "Fluid Film and 35's"

Nope, sorry. Perishable skill set just like welding. I was once a musician. Couldn't make much but a racket now...

I don't know what it's like for someone who only played for a few years and then didn't play for a long time. But, I've gone months without practice. I'd say I've probably played on 10 occasions or so in the past 2 years.

All I can say is that it's weird. I can still pull off just about anything I ever could. But, I'm sloppy, and I have no stamina. The lack of callouses definitely doesn't help. I could probably be in good enough shape to play out in a month if I practiced 3-4 times a week. But, it would probably take a few months of regular practice to get back to where I was 10 years ago.

I wanted to add to this..

The drummer from my first band is still a close friend of mine. We still play occasionally (once or twice a year on average), but we didn't play together at all from around 2009 until 2014 or so.

We can still pull off some of the old songs pretty well, which I'm always surprised by because we were pretty aggressive back then. I think once you play a song about 1000 times or so, you never really forget it.

Sounds like my first outfit. Both guys that live in town anymore but once every couple years will manage to find an afternoon to get together and bang out some of the old songs. Maybe even a Rush tune here or there. Of course I'm the only one of that crew that's still plays and is starting to make a few dollars doing it which is nice.

Yes! My most prized material possession. '95 Thumb 6 NT. Bought late in '96 with my grandfather's will money. I am even more satisfied with the decision to spend $4202.94 on a bass now then I was then! It's better than it was new.

Out of curiosity, what are you doing to make $$? I've always wished I could get paid to play, but never got anywhere with it.
