It is harder on them. I could have gotten by with a Subaru Outback for my moto trailer, but at only 3500 lbs tow rating. Plus all my camp/moto gear on my trips. Could see it being fairly hard on it. Though the Suby would have been a nicer daily. I rented one for 2 weeks to see if it work, it did but barely. Why I chose the Taco over it.

How are the frontier vs taco numbers once you add in the nice things like heated seats?

Trying hard to like the CT. This video 1. makes the CT look good (well, not look but it's performance is good) and 2. hopefully some of Tesla's innovations will spread to other manufactures.

I think you have to factor in at least the upgrade package if not the premium package. It seems insane to me to spend over 40K on a vehicle and not get heated seats and the other normal things Toyota considers add ons. I would definitely pay up the few thousand more.

    You nailed it.
The Tacoma is all around the "just right" category. Wouldnt say class leading in one category but solid in all IMO.

With the new configurations and options available I think they're swinging for the fences on getting there though.

For the same reason that Street Outlaws is still on Discovery and we are up to Fast and Furious 10. People are obsessed with racing for stop light to stop light and 0-60 times.

I’ve had two different Frontiers for rentals and they are pretty nice. That engine and tranny is great.

If he's looking to tow 10000 lbs why buy a midsize though lol
The other guys are 7000 lbs, what exactly is someone towing with midsize at that weight , I wouldn't even feel comfortable towing that much with a babytruck

No midsize should be towing 10,000 lbs. that’s just asking for trouble. Lighter trailers are fine though.

Upgrade pkg is mandatory to spec the new one comparable to a standard issue ‘23 4x4 OR.

    42900+ 4640 + 1495 = 49035. A loaded ‘23 OR w real leather is 47k

Save a kidney for the hybrids…

Just wanted to chime in on the 4G Tacoma vs. Frontier discussion.....

I've owned my 2007 Titan for 14 years now, time to downsize, and I'd love to get a new Frontier, but....

Nissan has limited the desirable options to the crew cab short bed variants. For my needs, I can't deal with a 5' bed. If you want a Pro4X, or if you want LED headlights and the bigger infotainment, only the 5' versions are available with that. The king cab and long bed crew cab can't be optioned that way.
Which really sucks, because my local dealer has a lot full of 5' bed Frontiers of all varieties for $3300 off MSRP.

The domestic midsize trucks are a no go for me also because they don't even have body options anymore.

I'm very grateful Toyota has such diverse choices after everyone consolidated to only the one most popular configuration.
Are the choices perfect for everyone? Nope. I'd be okay with an SR if the engine wasn't so detuned. Looks like a base SR5 long bed CC is my best option.

Regarding the discussions about inflation, yeah it sucks. I bought a 2020 Corolla hatchback right before the pandemic for $20,750 before tax/tags. It was about $23k out the door. Last year, the dealership offered us $25k on the spot for it when we took it in for an oil change.
I paid $23k for a fully loaded Titan Crew Cab 4x4 with Big Tow and locking diff that was a 2 year lease return with 22k miles on it, so these new prices sting. But, what choice do I have? I'd love to NOT pay for Toyota safety sense, we only use the radar cruise on it. I'd love to not pay for a complex turbo motor.

They need an option like the scat pack. TRD pro suspension, full tune or hybrid option in the SR. No moonroof, All the luxury options are nice but I wouldn't pay for any of them if I had the choice.

The Tacoma worked great for me in a 2013 2wd Prerunner, 2015 4wd Sport, and 2021 4wd Off-road. You can push back all you want but if the trailer and load are less than 4000 pounds, it works fine. It sure as hell isn't going to be a problem with the 2024 Tacoma.

Good perspective. I'm curious what you put in the 6' bed? Motorcycles?

My wife and I like to go camping very often. I have a Leer topper with Thule rails, cargo basket and carpeted interior on my truck. Also have a full bed rug. We really enjoy using that space to sleep in after being soaked a few times in our old tent during storms. Have it all set up warm and cozy with lighting and power outlets/inverter.

I'm 71" tall and my Titan has the shorter bed, but it's 69" long, so since I don't sleep fully stretched straight out, it works ok, we can close the tailgate and hatch and be really comfortable.

A 60" midsize bed would be too much downsizing, not just length, but width too.

Parking is not an issue for me. I never parked my current truck inside, and I drive a F-550 bucket truck in Seattle, I am very comfortable with a bigger truck.

I’ve been looking at Frontiers also and just saw a new Pro 4x crew cab marked down to around $39k. They’ve historically always marked them down more than Toyota.

I’ve owned 2 Nissan trucks before (‘95 hardbody, ‘11 Frontier, both 4cyl.) and they were solid. They do cheap out on interiors and the Frontiers are boring looking.

The new Frontier V6 is DI, which I have hesitations about, and the Frontier steering is heavy feeling and kind of sucks, imho.

I’d actually prefer the Toyota 4cyl if the turbo thing works out and I can actually afford one, lol. Plus the links/coils, etc.
