I'm not trying to rag on Nissan, I liked the one I owned. Just a fact of life with a DI motor to be prepared for.

Not sure I even want to see pricing for the distributor’s port-installed sticker add-ons.

    Puddle lights….$9465.00

I wish they wouldn’t have gone that route. I haven’t looked into it much other than scanning a Frontier forum and there isn’t much mention of problems on there.

I’m just really hoping the Tacoma’s turbo 4cyl. turns out to be awesome. I almost bought a 2G 4cyl. Tacoma years ago, I’ve always wanted one of those.

I’ll be interested in test driving a 4G with the rear coils too.

After seeing the GM twins and the Ranger, hopes weren’t too high.

Thought maybe a PHEV, but no…they went to appease the Bros instead.

TFL published the 6MT making peak torque at 2800rpms? And why is the SR 2WD work truck getting the lowest payload and tow rating?

The base SR always had a tow rating of 3500 lbs. Payload should be the highest you would think, since it has the least amount of options and leaf springs. Perhaps since it is the detuned engined they didn’t want people over loading it and straining the engine.

Toyota has done some odd stuff over the decades, so this isn’t surprising.

Toyota really dropped the ball on the mpgs. They are supposed to be the king of hybrids. Why in the hell would they not put either a normal fuel saving hybrid or a plug in hybrid in an all new Tacoma design? It makes no sense. The Maverick hybrid gets 42 mpg. This all new truck still gets low 20’s. WTF.

Maybe. Tank average mixed driving will probably be 19.5. January should be interesting when real owners report their results.

Wondering the same thing. Last year Toyota introduced a TNGA 2.0T they use in their Crown overseas. Puts out 244HP and 280Tq - comparable to the outgoing v6 when you consider the Tq comes in at lower RPM. Would have paired nicely with a regular hybrid for more power and a larger hybrid for a PHEV with better mpg across the board.

They certainly did. Seems like they are aiming at the instagrammers, rather than the practical everyday truck, and why most people started buying Toyotas decades ago.

Those epa numbers will go down drastically since the majority will pull off that snow plow of an air dam, it is quite possible that the T4 will get worse real world mpgs than the out going V6.

The new Tacoma doesn’t really do anything better than any of the other midsize trucks on the market, except the removable speaker. :D A fuel saving hybrid could have really put them at the top of the segment and also given current Tacoma owners a legitimate reason to want to spend big money to trade in there current trucks.

Well… most Tacoma owners are idiots and buy them for dumbass reasons judging by a lot of the members on here. My theory is that the sports sedan racer boy crowd jumped in the mid-size truck trend then proceeded to ruin the segment. We need more of holier-than-thou sniffing their own farts frugal Prius crowd to get into mid-size trucks. Though they could give two shits about trucks, and probably hate vehicles in general so there is that… lol!

While not on the market yet, the only truck hybrid that makes practical sense is that new Ramcharger. Not going to be cheap though. Gobs of power, incredible range, even has a tow capacity of 14,000 lbs, that is pushing 3/4-1 Ton territory. Did notice it has one ton hubs on it. Guessing it is like the old heavy halfs.
