Hey all, hope everyone is well. Have been having a little bit of an ‘issue’ lately and it’s been a decent bit annoying. I got a 6AT TRD pro shifter a while back and it’s been great. Except I find that when shifting it between gears, especially from park to drive or drive to park, it seems like the shift collar almost seems to like to fall down on its own, like it’s not truly clipped in as well as it could be, and I don’t know why. There’s seems to be a clip on the front and one on the rear, but I don’t understand why it’s not fully clicking in, or why it just isn’t holding that well. The slightest nudge or anything seems to knock it right down, causing it to rattle. I do have a MESO customs black shifter overlay piece on there, but I don’t see that really causing an issue because it’s not appearing to interfere with the clipping mechanism. Anyone else have a similar issue or would anyone know a remedy for this issue? It’s almost as if the tabs on the shifter aren’t sitting low enough maybe?

    Thanks in advance!

I’d probably just use some Gorilla Glue on it

Yeah I’ve though of that, still debating though in case I’ll need to end up taking it off at some point…

It's the black out cover you have on there. That doesn't look like a MESO piece. More like the ADJ. The MESO one is smooth, yours had ridges around it. It's just thick enough, not to let the factory chrome ring to clip to the knob. I have the MESO on mine and it does the same thing, just not as often as you are having an issue with it.

Ive got the same collar cover and a trd shift knob and was having the same issue. Give the knob one more turn even if its tight already if you can. Thats what helped for me at least.

+1 for blackout collar. I’ll bet if you remove the collar it will clip and stay put

Interesting, so you think it being threaded slightly tighter helped you?

kinda makes sense because the shifter will sit closer to the clip and so forth.

This picture from the MESO site shows how the cover for the shifter boot collar is supposed to look like.

Yeah you’re right, as well as someone else who mentioned it. The one I have is the AJT designs one. Must’ve mixed it up because I have a lot of interior trim pieces that are a mix of MESO and AJT.

Tightened the knob three times around and it seems to be holding a lot better now. Funny part is it seemed like it was tight enough before…

I'm having the same issue. I'll turn the knob a few times too next time I'm in the truck. I assumed the issue I was having was from the clips just being worn from removing the console a few times.

You know, I find it interesting that the TRD knob has a loose connection because the stock black knob that comes on the truck definitely seems to have had a tighter connection with the collar.
