What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I added spacers to mine and it was the best upgrade ever. I’m 6’2

Dang man I got mine 6.5-7 years ago with 57k on her. Sitting at 137k now

 

I’ve been dissatisfied with map & dome lights since I started driving in the 70’s. Same with reverse lights. Upgraded those when I found the rear view camera couldn’t see anything either. Never going back to stock.

 

Is that really a 2013 with 9k miles

I'm going to install my new trd pro headlights today. I've got a question? My truck is a base model with all black trim, except the grill surround. So while I'm in there I'm planning on painting the surround to match all the other trim. What's the best paint and color to do this, do I need to primer it as well. Here is my truck.

 

I would Scuff it up a bit with scotch brite wash dry and hit it with adhesion promoter like bulldog
then paint and clear coat it. Others can help you better than me .

 

Pulled the trigger on a new stereo setup, boss touchscreen and kickers.


Started out simple enough getting the wiring harnesses all sorted out.


Then came dismantling the dash and getting the new unit mount figured out.



Running the mic up the A pillar wasn’t too bad but Jesus fuck I spent 2 hours running the wire back for the rear camera because I couldn’t figure out how to get it out of the cab. Ended up finding a grommet under the front seat that would’ve saved me a lot of time.


Got the camera mounted and spliced the wiring into the reverse light. At that point I had stopped documenting with photos because I was at my sanity limit. Very happy with the result but the whole process took damn near 9 hours because Crutchfield doesn’t really come with much instructions.


Nice upgrade at a reasonable price point and fortunately everything worked as expected so I guess I’m not as inept at electrical shit as I thought. A little daunting tho

 

Are the bears doing crack up north also? Down here its all the people on drugs doing that.

Spooled new synthetic winch line and added an Agency6 shackle. I HATED how the license plate couldn't fold flat, so i made a quick replacement mount out of some aluminum bar i had laying around.

Well, I got my headlights installed, grill surround painted and installed the URD short throw shifter. I know some talk shit about the urd shifter, but I thought what the hell I'll try. Wow what a difference.

 

Put on the FJ steelies I picked up second hand. Truck is filthy from last weeks trail running.
