Dude, you're beating a dead horse and doing lots of cherry picking in the process. Think about it, I could cherry pick like you and point out the normally aspirated Honda 2.4 liter I4 engine found in millions of Accords had a tendency to burn oil; what would that prove? Nothing, exactly the same as your BMW example. The fact is, a poorly designed engine will burn oil, a good design will not, and regardless of whether the engine is normally aspirated or has forced induction of some sort, there will be no difference.

Face it, you're not going to win this debate, and the more educated you get on the subject, the more you'll understand you're pushing a narrative which is not valid.

I'm not trying to win anything, you seem to have issue with anyone saying anything about any pro's and cons of turbo charged engines. Or with anyone that has any questions regarding turbo charged engines. I really wish they have not made a manual in this truck... I merely shared a video.

The problem is that people announce things as cons when they have no idea if it’s true or not. It’s not about asking questions, it’s about declaring something is bad before it’s actually shown to be.

40 years ago, everyone thought EFI was overly complex and unreliable.

30 years ago, small engines running highly complex valve trains with adjustable valve timing were thought to be unreliable.

20 years ago, high compression engines running 87 octane were thought to be a bad idea.

10 years ago, turbocharged truck engines were the next horror.

    and here we are.

This joke was funny weeks ago when you first called an engine that makes more horsepower and torque than yours a “lawnmower engine.” Can’t wait for you to rehash the “drill motor” joke you’ve been pushing for weeks

But were there not problems and growing pains with each of those changes in widespread production of those technologies. Not rendering cautiousness to adopt completely unwarranted.

In all of those cases, it depended entirely on execution by the OEM, not something inherent to the technology.

I hope the OEM in the forum titles track record with this one is better than the other attempt in that other truck they make.

I have had several factory turbocharged vehicles before, and much of what this guy is saying is way off. It may be true for turboed vehicles built in the 70s or 80s with zero water cooling, but its simply no longer true. There is NO need to keep a turbo engine running before shutting it off, unless you are racing on a track for prolonged periods of time, but even then you would let a non turbo vehicle cool down as well. My heavily modified STi had zero issues with the turbo or engine before I sold it with over 200k miles on it, and I beat the snot out of that car. It also burned zero oil, strange I know.

Many manufacturers build turbo vehicles with no problems. I would tend to trust and believe German and Japanese engineers over some flat rate YouTuber technician any day of the week.

My only issue with turbo charging is the peripherals used to support it.
For example, a buddy of mine had to replace the intercooler of his Hyundai SanteFe because it blew out. This was a design flaw because the unit was assembled with compression joints instead of welding. After 5 years of SW Ontario winters the aluminum oxidized and the the joints failed.

Parts fail, fact of life. Similar to your buddy, I've had radiators and oil coolers fail when the vehicle is only a few years old.

Whether you like a previous generation is completely OK, but embracing innovation is where I will support! Doesn’t mean I have to buy it!

the 2024 will be a better truck- without a doubt. More reliable though, doubtful at the start. Maybe over time. By then, something else will be out trying to demand our money...

I modded my '21 to get what I want, but honestly, a '24 probably would have probably answered all of my needs.

Oh and that Scotty guy doesn't know WTF he's talking about..

The base motor in the 4g absolutely shits on both motor options for the 3rd gen without any flushing. It's going to be a blood bath when the iforce max shows up next year.
