    It’s a great platform to build off of. With 33’s a 2inch lift, amor, and arb lockers, you will be able to tackle some serious trails. It has good running clearance, a strong front diff, and great amount of rear wheel articulation. They are still small and relatively light compared to other trucks. They are also tough. I’ve lost amount of times I’ve of buried the truck up to the frame in mud, snow, caught the frame on rocks and other obstacles. They can take a beating.

    The ability to easily clear 33’s, a sway bar disconnect, and a larger rear diff will be welcome additions. The new linked rear will offer a much better ride on rough trails and in general. We will lose a little running clearance due to the new seating position, and we will lose a good amount of break over angle. Hopefully that can easily be countered with a lift and larger tires. I would feel more comfortable running 35’s with the higher torque, stronger differential and beefier CV’s. Hopefully they figure out a way to maintain the same amount of the rear flex. The c channel frame really helps with flex at the expense of twisting the bed apart over time. The new tundra lost a significant amount of rear articulation.

    So Turbo 4 even with an 8-spd transmission only gets slight increase in mpg. MPG might have been a little better if the HP/Tq were closer to outgoing engine, with Tq at a lower rpm it still would have felt faster. The problem is, ICE efficiency is near its peak. The power required to move heavy vehicles is going to require more or less the same amount of gas regardless of the configuration.

    On the other hand, EV/battery technology keeps getting better. The Cyber Truck uses 48V for accessories and 800V for the motors which is more efficient allowing thinner/lighter wiring and faster charging.

    Using a "giga press" to make light weight/low cost chassis castings may result in odd looking vehicles but the uni-body CT can tow 14,000lb so you can't say it's a weak design.

    If this BEV Tacoma, equipped like a PRO/TH, had HP/Tq similar to the T4 iForce Max and had 400mi range, I would pay $70K for it.

    If they can figure out range I would be sold. Range is still questionable though. 340 miles for the CT, and that’s before towing/ heavy payload variable driving conditions and cold weather. With battery tech advancing at its current pace why not hold off a couple years. Lighter batteries that charge faster while giving us better range seems inevitable. It will be interesting to see how manufacturers implement them. Tesla uses their batteries as core structural support. That seems like a bad idea to subject an off-road vehicle to that. BOF design is still ideal as it can handle a fairly severe amount of force from the truck flexing over uneven terrain. Allowing that force to flex into the battery pack, the most expensive component in the vehicle, is a little questionable.

    Jeff Bezos denies direct linking. You have to go to the page and download the PDF: https://pressroom.toyota.com/vehicle/2024-toyota-tacoma/

    It looks like the same spec sheet the press got on Nov 21.

    Turning radius of 4th gen DCSB is about the same as 3rd gen DCLB. Steering rack ratio is about the same, but 4th gen has 3.3 turns lock-to-lock vs. 3.6 turns on 3rd gen for 4x4 TRD trims.

    Whats the reverse ratio on the 3rd gen? Just curious if they addressed that handicap. It would be nice to not have to use 4lo to back up.

    Found it I think,

    So, the lows get lower and the highs get higher. Will be interesting to see/feel the difference. The taller 6th might help highway fuel consumption because of the lower engine speed.

    @Lord Helmet, @It's a TRD Thang, @3JOH22A

    I can assure you, it's real. In typical Toyota fashion, its got some errors..... 12.8 quarts of oil for the T24A? I thinketh not..

    and @3JOH22A , thank you I didn't know that would cause a problem. Sorry everyone.
