My friend sent me this clip of Mike Leach talking about the committee. That pirate was quirky from time to time behind the microphone but he also said things that made sense too. I feel this clip is more than appropriate for today.

Do we have word yet if uga wants to be in their bowl or not? It’s never too early to start making excuses.

 

just a little friendly advice here from someone that knows. Get ready to embrace the suck. Yall had a nice run but venables ain’t the one and there is no telling how long or how many it will take until yall find the right one. Took us nearly 20 years.

I can’t wait for the SEC to have 48 teams, so we can consider the whole season the playoffs, have none of it really matter, Alabama can lose a few games and take home the title wether they win the conference or not, and @dwalden2 can tell us it’s because we got rid of bowl games

 

But hey, #13 LSU with 3 losses to all top 11 teams got matched with 5 loss unranked Wisconsin, so that’s a super important bowl game that means a lot to the sport!

 

You have 62 college football writers (AP poll) and 62 Division 1 coaches (AFCA Coaches poll) who say one thing - Michigan, Washington, FSU and either Texas (AP) or Alabama (AFCA). But, the COMMITTEE of 13 whoever they are people don't include FSU????

IF I were king of the world: Go back to the BCS model with the polls and computers, but expand to 8 teams. That should be much more fair than "the committee". Ya don't need 12 teams for this, and I am a Penn State grad and Penn State is currently #10. I don't think they deserve to be in a playoff, neither does Mississippi. Missouri, or Oklahoma.

Or do like the NCAA hoops tourney: 64 teams + 4 'play in' teams (or whatever it is). Tourney could then finish up by the time spring practices begin

Their backup will be able to play by the bowl games - concussions don't typically last for a month or longer (exception being Sydney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins several years ago - he missed a few months if I recall).

Also, how many players now days skip their bowl game all together to "prepare for the draft"??? Can't predict that when deciding on top 4.....

HYPOTHETICAL: Quin Ewers NOW decides he will skip the bowl game and prepare for the draft. Do you remove Texas from the semis since they wouldn't have their #1 QB??

NOT TRYING to cause problems by picking Texas/Ewers here, same could be said for Michigan's, Washington's or Bama's QB opting out at this point.

 

Crosby had multiple years worth of concussions that added up and he missed over half a season iirc. Another good example od the extreme is Tua, who got back to back concussions and couldn’t clear the protocol for months after the second one

 

FSU won as many games with their backups as Texas did. Why didn’t the committee consider that. Ewers was out for 3 games this year. FSU won their conference game with their 3rd string QB.
This committee really fucked this up.

Alabama has knocked the Texas Qb out of the game 2 out of the last 3 times they played. There is a good chance that bama and Texas are going to play again. Maybe the committee should have left Texas out based on that.

 

Teams shouldn’t start lying about injuries.

 

The committee is ass.

they argue that Bama and Texas should be in because “they’d be favored in their games” but leave UGA out because of the championship criteria. But then leave FSU out because they wouldn’t be favored but they do have a championship. They’re so wishy washy and don’t follow their own set criteria.

the nfl system works. Does anyone think the falcons will win the Super Bowl? Hell no but they’ll be in the playoffs simply for winning their division!!
