Bivouac, poor internet that you were able to upload. Same with me. If I took pictures myself and I won't have issue to upload.

Please understand that pictures were the conversion from video (seller sent to us) to screenshot which my friend has the program for this. We live 4 hours away from the seller. That s why. We selected screenshots to post this. This forum accept tif files so I am assuming all are good. Next time, I will pick different file for you guys easier to see pics. Sorry about that. Thank you for your help as well.

That doesn't look super terrible, just surface stuff is all I saw. You really need to get it inspected though for a more thorough check. Swapping frames is no fun.

My friend got the result from the inspection and the frame is rotten. He wont buy. The inspection was worth. Seller was upset.

Toyota said the frame is not salvagable. That s suck because the truck has only 96,000 miles on it. Also nice body as well.

Yeah that's what a lot of people on here have ran into. My 2009 had almost immaculate paint and body but after 10+ Midwestern winters it ended up having bad delamination and ended up with a hole the size of my palm in the frame.

Squirt, no he didnt buy. That s why he asked seller to send his truck to Toyota for inspection. At first, he did offer for free because himself has a garage as well, he could show etc. My friend said no, he stayed firm and send to Toyota. So see the result. Seller wasnt happy...he tried to sell for a long time...

Canada...winter with salt is the enemy for all vehicles...I own a 2003 Tacoma, frame changed in 2018. The previous owner, he always put oil antirust annually and now I do it annually as well. Sorry my English is not my first language.

I would always be suspicious of low miles low price on any of them...

its either gonna be frame rot, salvage Frankenstein, or blown head gasket...

They're usually hoping someone will buy it out of state....and not come inspect it first......and when they send you pics....they avoid any from the leaf pack and back...

possible to get one out of an estate sale.....but those very rare....and a lot of those been sitting for 10yrs.......you know, the chewed wire ones...

and who does tif's ....thats like from the first digital cameras and scanners from the late 90's....
    non-compressed files.....and crap resolution...

Maybe I just got lucky, mine had 63K on it when I bought it in 2018 and the frame is about as rust free as you can get with a 20 year old truck. (You can see the pics I've scattered around here. . . . ) I'm not sure what it's story is, but haven't had any long term issues that were hidden. Stay hopeful, they're out there. :p

Mmm, spent 20 years in printing, from old school manual stripping to operating 60K drum scanners. I got to see it all come to life, from old school to DTP. Even got to experiment with the first digital camera, a Nikon body with a HUGE land camera sized CCD array. I can tell you yes TIFF's are uncompressed (most of the time) but the whole purpose of the tagged image file format is to keep from losing resolution. If the resolution is crap, blame the capturing device, not the format. TIFF is 1:1 with whatever data is captured (unless you select options to compress, which would be stupid - just go with JPG if you're going to do that.)

It's still well used in DTP, in fact a lot of vendors still request it and request a CMYK color space. Additionally CMYK data retention is literally impossible with web formats, and there is additional information available in TIFF's, such as UCR (under color removal) and GCR (gray component replacement) to allow the ink to adhere more evenly on printing presses (remove the 3 colors that normally make up "black" and replace it with black ink.) Those are almost all gone anyway so, yeah LOL . . . .

Another example is Nikon's proprietary NEF, it's highly recommended if you want to convert out of NEF, convert it to TIFF format to maintain maximum original quality. But the problem is as you see here - it's not general purpose, it is not for the web, sharing it presents challenges. It's for high end output devices in printing and other apps.

The way JPG works is a "map" of the image's most popular colors/tones is created, sort of like a table. Depending on the compression selection, many of the original colors are tossed out and an entry in the map is used in their place. Less image data to save, smaller file size. The map is used to plot each pixel in the image (which never changes in size.)

The issue with jpg is even at 99% "quality" the image is still sampled, meaning colors/tones that are far less frequent are thrown out/merged into majority values. That's how it saves on file size. You may not see it, but there is a loss of some of the original image data.
