I'm looking to purchase seat heaters for my front seats. I want to see if anyone has any information or personal experience on which seat heaters are the best. I would like to purchase some that have hi and low settings. I've found a few on E Bay and other websites but I would like to purchase a decent kit instead of something that burns out in 6 months.

Yes, I searched and all I was able to find is "how do I wire the switch?" threads.

Buy some Wet Okoles and get the seat heaters put in them.

I just want the seat heaters. I'm happy with the factory seats/covers.

Look in the Katzin/CST leather seat group buy in the group buy forum under buy/sell/trade. Jhuey is the one selling them there. He is a great guy to work with and ask any questions about seat heaters.

I just installed mine about three weeks ago. I got them from a guy on eBay that I called and talked with before the purchase. Very nice guy and excellent to deal with. They are carbon fiber and the pads are huge (18" x 11") and cover most of the seat back and seat bottom. They have a three position switch --high/low/off. Come with everything including relays. I installed mine to trigger the relay off of the lights that come on in the shifter to illuminate the gear selection. That's one of the few things that come on when I use my remote starter. So now I can start my truck and when I get in my seats are warm. :D VERY PLEASED with mine! And you can't beat the price!

Here's a listing from the same guy...

Thanks. Also, as far as remote start goes. There's an auxiliary out that you can wire to the relay. It'll come on when you remote start the truck or you can program it off the remote to turn off. This way it doesn't always come on when you have your lights on. I use my remote start to cool the car in the summer if it's been parked for a while and wouldn't want the seat heaters turning on.

Ive only had it for a couple months but i have used it every day since i put it in!

I havent timed it, but it probably only takes about 60 seconds before i can feel heat coming through the seat. It's as good as any factory system Ive seen and probably gets warmer than most.

The kit comes with some cheap hog ring pliars and rings, but i didn't use those as i put my seat back together with zip ties.

I looked more into that kit and every seems to like it but everyone also complains that the heating pads are too small. The don't cover the whole back. You would have to choose to either put on towards your lower back or upper back. Would you agree with that or would you say they are sufficient?

Thanks....I might look fo that. The gear shift selector lights are on full time whether the lights are on or off. One of the few things that I found that are like that. But the aux out would probably be better.

I had that concern too when I first saw them, but with them installed I wouldn't say its an issue.

I'm about 6' 190lbs so YMMV, but I just put them centered on each cushion and they cover all the "contact points".

Most importantly the subjective "do they work?" question is a resounding yes. They just kept me warm with the windows down driving through a snowstorm over the weekend.

The only way i wouldn't give a glowing recommendation for this product is if it has reliability issues, and i can't really answer that yet.

I just read through this write up and my install turned out very similar. Definitely agree on using the zip ties to reattach the cover, makes things pretty easy. I also used the same fuse and ground locations and it seemed to work well. I mounted the switches in a little different spot, but that is really personal preference.

Great job on the write up!

edit: the only thing i did differently is just clip the hog rings with a good pair of snipers rather than pry them apart. I tried prying them at first and then said "the hell with this" and just cut em.

I guess they just installed some aftermarket ones but I did negotiate it at the time of sale. They wanted $475 for it.
