Rear Sway Bar for Tacoma and Remove front Sway Bar

I have (might be stupid) question about Tacoma 3rd Gen sway bar, i know some people remove it completely but was wondering if anyone has done where they removed front but added rear, came cross FJ cruiser discussions and some seem be happy with this setup. Anyone try this or if yes any success?

Fj/4runners are cool 3 link rear suspension. Tacoma’s are leafs.

 

I watched that video thanks, and that's part of reason i asked if anyone tried it. and if there is something with Tacoma, i know we are on leafs so might not work, though i saw something related to tundra, called TRD rear Sway people install. so was curious.

 

the FJ has front and rear sway bars factory. There are certain some advantages to removing these for driving on trails and offered situations. It increases articulation.

On the road I can’t see any advantages whatsoever. I certainly can’t see removing the front and leaving the rear installed.

Installing rear sway bar on a Tacoma Will make the truck corner more flat and have less body lean. However, if you do offer, it is going to decrease your articulation to a degree and driving into wheel drive you may see more inside wheel tire spin when turning accelerating

 

What about installing a Hellwing rear sway bar on the vehicle in either the front position or rear? wait does the rear have a sway bar?

 

Tacoma, has no rear swaybar from the factory on any model

 

Hasn't been attempted to my knowledge. The front suspension has higher roll stiffness than the rear in most setups, which means the body tends to follow the front when flexed out. Example pic from @TexasIslandBoy:



Adding a rear sway bar could be beneficial in a situation like this to keep the cab level. Haven't tried it myself. I've deleted my front sway bar, but didn't add a rear bar from Hellwig, etc.

 

Gotta ask @rgljr831 his thoughts, I think he pulled his sway bar. How’s it do on the on/off ramps anyway?

 

The 2nd gen Tacoma Xrunner had one... The previous gen Tundra had one. Not sure if the latest Tundra model has one...

 

Well my apologies. I thought we were speaking of the 3rd gen Tacoma in this thread. I do know about 2nd gen, would like to find a nice X Runner

That is exactly what I’ve been finding. Can’t find a little old lady x runner

 

Still handles well with my current setup (OME 886 coils and Supebumpstops up front). Haven’t considered adding a rear sway bar. I would be interested to know if it would have the same effect as on the FJ.

 

OK then can you put One on the front a decent one that the piece of junk that comes from Toyota

 

For a 2nd Gen, you can add a larger diameter front sway bar and you can retrofit a rear sway bar. Several manufacturers out there.

Like @Ricardo13x said, the FJs have 3 link rear vs leafs on the Tacoma. Think it would decrease articulation for sure.

 

No front sway bar here, never looking back either. I run the Ironman Foam Cell with their 720 spring and I even have a 1" body lift which makes me more top heavy. Drives fine, shocks in the front perform a little better without the swaybar too. Full leaf packs in the back will help reduce body roll. I cant see a need for a rear sway bar unless you plan on racing the truck on a track lol.

 

if you remove your front sway bar, and add a rear one, it will make you very sad when cornering in any sort of slick conditions.
