Have had my stage 2 kit on for 2 months and ~2,500 miles now. Installed RC UCA's about 500 miles ago, and cranked the spring perch about 2 turns higher. The UCA's definitely helped ride quality and allowed me to get caster back in spec.

Ride is still good as ever, just slightly firmer than the stock bilsteins. Have had the rumored "clunking" occur one time and one time only, happened when I went too fast over a speed bump. Other than that no clunks

Anyone with a clunk try tightening the center bolt at the top of the front coil over assembly? This is what holds the strut rod onto the upper strut mount.

I only say this because I just did the front struts on a 2014 infiniti QX60 (our family car) and I didn’t torque this down enough. Chased a clunk for a few days that turned out to be a combination of this and bad sway bar endlinks.

Changed the endlinks first and it made the noise go away partly. Then went into tightening that upper strut bolt and it made the sound go away completely. Without being torqued down, the flat surface on the strut rod that’s meant to mate with the underside of the strut mount was smacking against the under side of the upper strut mount when suspension was extended and compressed again (i.e. over bumps). This was the case on our infiniti front strut job anyway.

lucky for me I’m one of the ones who’ve had a great experience with this kit.

    best of luck all.

Finally got my Eibach Stage 2R installed with SPC UCA. I’m pretty happy with the set up and the improved ride. No clunking noises either. IMG_6464.jpg

@MiniMoto_Racer Looks great. Did you adjust down any for that stance? I ordered the same kit and don’t want to add height in the back for now.

So I got a chance to check the torque on the upper strut nut today. ( torque spec of 22lbsft ) The left was to spec, the right turned about a half turn before the click. I will drive a couple days and report back if there is any change or not.

Say, I got the kit during the cybersale and see these comments about replacing the lower shock bolts with 4R ones. Can someone explain WHY that is needed? I have a 2014 models and if the job requires a bolt upgrade might as well get it done. Thanks for the info.

If you look at these two bolts...
    20231204_134629.jpg
The top is the factory Tacoma bolt. The bottom is similar to the 4Runner bolt.

The unthreaded portion of the lower bolt is thicker, longer before tapering down. There is a possibility that this can cause movement. Most likely from not being torqued correctly though. I did change my bolts but there was zero evidence of movement. And the clicking is still present.

I installed this kit in April 2021 on my 2014 & didn't replace the lower shock bolts. I haven't had any clunking issues that others have complained about.

Good to know. Plan is to do 1” rear and 1” to 1.5” front with 265/70R17 on TRD wheels with +4mm offset. Hope that fits well and has no issues with mudflaps. May be a while before I install it but will update the results when I do.

    Thanks for the help

    Dang.

It's so strange it's only certain vehicles.

I need to put it on a lift and go over everything with a flashlight. Maybe a body mount is busted, or there's torn sheet metal.

    It doesn't make sense.

This is a lose cause. Eibach went MIA after they asked for people to come to their facility. You'd think they still try to at least still try finding the issue.
