I'm sure someone else has asked this already but did you get the limited edition Chevrolet Tacoma Raptor edition? Maybe I'm missing something but that's just what I can make out from the grill

Like the amber...just got the kid brother version Elites installed this weekend

Close it's actually a F-250 Ranger TRX Edition with a 1.1L 60HP Yogo engine for some POWER.

It's a joke between a friend who has a Chevy Colorado with a CRD (Chevy Race Developments) vinyl so I got a z71 badge lol. It's fun seeing peoples reactions and it's usually the person is confused, laughs, or thinks I'm a totally idiot for having z71 badge on a Taco all of which are great

Installed driver side CB antenna bracket and laid out all the components, tested and tuned the antenna, got it to SWR 1.3 on channel 1 and 1.1 on channel 40. Run the wires through the firewall and hooked it up to the battery.

Next Saturday we’ll do the final install - run the coax to the cab, install the control box, figure out a good spot for the mic and do some more tuning since I’m also adding a spring mount to the mix.

Nice. Dig the paint job. It will serve you well when you have to repaint it once you do a little offroading.

how are these as a step? I know that's not what it's made for but just curious. I hate how side steps come out way to far. These look good.

Nice Chukka boots, they almost match the purse. :D But seriously, that’s a great deal for a set of sliders. Let us know how they hold up on obstacles.

Very interested in how things turn out. Considering a CB instead of the current handheld Cobra. Please keep us posted.

I have a 30-year-old hand-help CB unit that can connect to car-DC-port or batteries and it sits in my truck. I bought it mainly for trips I took decades ago between Indiana and west coast ... times were different then with several "next gas 50 miles" locations that were NOT exaggeration. I did have to scrape some corrosion off the battery contacts about 6 months ago because of years of non-use.

My set are rechargeable battery powered handhelds. Yours is probably much better. Does it use an external antenna?

Yes ... 2 ft extendable that can be screwed into the unit AND a connectable magnetic base that can be put on the vehicle (screw the antenna into the base) that attaches to the handheld.

Clearly not supposed to be integrated into the truck, unless I customize a connection from the outside to inside and have a real-truck-mount antenna on the outside.

Still ... when my cellphone has no bars it is a chance ...

EDIT: The paperwork says "1987". I wonder if they would still honor warranty issues?

Sounds like a good option. I’ve had CBs in the past that require a fixed antenna and sometimes it’s a PIA to get them dialed in.

Thanks for the input. It’s definitely appreciated.

I cannot give more field reports on it. I co-worker borrowed it back in 1990-ish for a long cross-country drive with friends and did not say "failure". Still I guess I should actually test it in the conditions I would need it ...

I have had a couple of occasions at our local SVRA where there are a lot of people playing around in the obstacle courses but when I head up the trails won’t see another soul. Kind of unsettling if one were to get stuck on on one of the black diamond trails all alone. No bars on the cell phone either.
