I was wondering that myself, if they will severely limit the SR and flood the dealerships with much more expensive Trim levels.

    $65,000 for a TRD Sport?

Not that they really need yet another trim, but if an OR with just the upgrade pkg pushes 50k, maybe consider a re-intro of something comparable to the current Trail, which is an off road tweaked SR5.

Seems like even if they took a base SR 4x4 and threw a couple off road goodies ar it would be kinda cool, but it would probably exceed 40 grand too.

All you need is a decent set of tires and stay of out if the stupid stuff. Or even forgo the tires since they’ll teach you real quick to stay out of the stupid stuff.

Coils will probably go on the sr in a couple years. Toyota might have a stock pile from the 3rd gens or some sort of contract with a provider.

Other than that im loving this cubbie gate conversation

It’s absolutely insane. You could buy two sports for that amount of money not too long ago. If I were going to spend that much money I would buy a new Maverick and a Crosstrek. Or a used truck and a WRX.

It is fully optioned and then marked up 10k above suggested retail by a dealership, so it isn't fair to use the most expensive TRD Sport found in USA as an example.

My 2019 WRX Limited stickered for 33k, Limited models now sticker for over 38k and don't even get leather anymore.

A 2019 Tacoma Double Cab TRD OR 4x4 had an MSRP of $36,765, and a 2024 is $43,295. It is the same exact percentage difference in price.

The Tacomas aren't more expensive, our money is just worth a heck of a lot less which is a worse situation to be in.

You’re assuming you can actually buy one at MSRP with no add ons and no markup. So far that doesn’t exist and probably won’t for quite a while.

Eh, I have my doubts that they aren't flat out more expensive.
'23 Sport. I added all the options I could until I got tired of clicking boxes:
    Screenshot 2023-12-04 230018.png

I doubt delivery fees were tacked on, so add $1500 to the above.

    Vs. 2024 59k (had a 5k dealer markup, not 10K)

Seems more expensive to me. Good example is the bed step, $300 on the '23, $450 on the '24. Don't know what kind of engineering had to go into the change, but $150 higher seems like it is in fact more expensive.

13k more for the similar truck, and we haven't even gotten to the real expensive trucks and power options, seems more expensive. A hybrid Sport could easily be 65k without any dealer markups lol.

Also, we won't mention the '23 had more standard features that got stripped off on the '24, requiring you to now buy atleast one additional upgrade package to get the same base level equipment as the old model.

People can argue inflation and what not all they want, but the prices have risen beyond just that.

It's pre-production, I would take everything you see material wise as a grain of salt until they hit the streets

The curb weights are interesting. 2024 4x4 Xtra Cab is 60 lb heavier than 2023 4x4 Access Cab V6 auto, despite the deletion of access doors and aluminum hood/doors/tailgate.

    upload_2023-12-4_23-37-32.png

Not sure how the DCLB 4x4 grew by 170 lb. Maybe it's the Limited with air suspension, power tailgate, and power running boards.

Also the length grew by 0.7" (18mm) from 2023 to 2024, despite what Sheldon said.

Anything over SRP is the dealerships fault. I’m not paying a cent over MSRP. Add ons are harder to avoid, but it will still be possible. It’s just a waiting game

A fully loaded 2023 Sport has way less stuff than a fully loaded 2024.

Entry level vs entry level TRD sport is the closest comparison that can be made for that model.
    Some of what you loose:
    -powered sliding glass
    -power seats

    Some of what you gain:
-multi link rear coil spring suspension
    -standard LED headlights

I hate to see some things no longer standard, but the other things we now get are really worth more value wise. Take a standard 3% bump for inflation over the 2023 and it’s the same exact price to get into a TRD model.

I will say though that the marketing is clear to try and push buyers towards more expensive packages and stuff. So in that aspect they do start getting expensive.

If someone can deal with a more basic version though, it isn’t too crazy
