Never had a problem with a GM product. Then again I don't buy the bottom of the barrel vehicles or trim levels.

No. It just had some light surface rust on bare metal bolts. Nothing would necessarily get worried about.

Peruzzi has Christmas lights on their main building that come on automatically when it gets dark; I happened to catch this...

My plan was to drive up to Quakertown and take pictures of my truck outside Brick's, like I do every year, but I showed up a little too early and they were still open. There were people there, and I still had COVID. My truck literally attracts passersby like moths to a flame, because they want to take pictures of the truck; I did think that "Please don't come any closer, I'm still positive for COVID" would go over very well and word seems to travel around the county, so I turned around went back home... :pout:

That said, Peruzzi Toyota is practically right around the corner from Souderton, which is where I managed to get pulled over for my Christmas lights for the very first time almost two weeks ago. Because of that encounter, I only turn on the wreath and bullbar lights unless I am in a touristy area like Peddler's Village or New Hope; Doylestown and Warrington have also proven to be safe bets with regards to police more or less ignoring my Christmas lights...

The blue dot was my location at the dealership when I took the screenshots, just to give an idea of how close Peruzzi Toyota is to where I got pulled over...

So as everybody knows, I finally got pulled over for the Christmas lights on my truck, after five consecutive years of doing it without an issue; I got pulled over in Souderton Borough, a part of Upper Bucks where I've only been a handful of times in the last five years or so.

Today, my friend Helen informed me of a well-publicized "holiday safe driving crackdown" that on Thanksgiving Eve was specifically targeted at drunk drivers.

The cop told me from the beginning that I would not be getting a ticket for the lights, and in fact was one of the friendliest LEOs that I've dealt with in recent years.

I was not speeding, I was not driving dangerously, and you should have seen how fast this cop went to catch up with me...

I came to a red light at a 3-way intersection, and there was one car behind me; I have no idea where the cop was hiding, but he was hauling ass coming down the hill after me. The speed limit was 25 MPH, I was doing 28-29 MPH, and he had to be doing 10-12 MPH over the speed limit to catch me; I saw his lights in my rearview mirror from quite a distance, but then he disappeared and I figured he was just responding to a call.

The light turned green, I turned left, the car behind me went straight, the cop made a left behind me, and his lights immediately went on. This was almost simultaneously as the people at the bar in the corner yelled out Merry Christmas to me and Amanda.

I was sober, we both had our seatbelts on, and all of the truck's paperwork was in order, so there literally was nothing else to ticket us for. The cop was thoroughly impressed with my setup and I ended up getting the okay to step out of the truck to show the cop how I had the lights hooked up. He even stopped traffic so I could get out once we were done.

Lessons learned? The most obvious one, which has been one of my own rules for years, is not to be out driving on nights that are known for heavy drinking because the roads are full of drunk drivers and overzealous cops looking for drunk drivers. The second lesson learned is to NEVER drive in or around Souderton with the Christmas lights on.

Yes but still a Chevy. My friend who is a body man had one new and had constant issues.

    Giggle.

My 2006 Colorado was a shitheap culminating in the known defect of the top end going out at 70K (some went at 20K). The pisser is GM said it's just normal use despite it being under 2 warranties at the time.

Yup. Especially the first one. Roadblocks are especially fun, though I did get to have some fun with the cops at that one.

Did I say the regular Outlander is ugly?

I do like the outlander sport, but I will say it is very loud even compared to my Taco. Great cars though.
I think the rust on my old east coast car will be in my nightmares till the end of time.

Never figured out why a few of the lug nuts sheared off the studs when pulling the tires.

No, @shakerhood said the regular Outlander was ugly. You said that the Outlander Sport was actually a decent and reliable vehicle, and based on what I've read about them, I would agree; I've also briefly driven an Outlander Sport, and I liked it in that respect too.

Nissan (and Datsun in other markets) and Mitsubishi have both been acquired by the Renault Group.

Renault is such garbage that even the French military will not buy vehicles from them!

Yeah they're not good, neither is Nissan anymore and Mitsubishi hasn't had a decent vehicle since the early 2000s. Not even sure where you can get a Mitsubishi anyway, haven't seen a dealer for one in ages and you'd have to be nuts to invest in building one anymore. Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance is a desperate partnership between a huge French manufacturer with plenty of money and a poor reputation and two Japanese manufacturers that are eager to toss away what's left of their already failing reputation for one last burst of shareholder value before fading into irrelevance.

Nissan of the 90s and even early 2000s was famous for their robust vehicles with relatively low prices, now it's taking the Mopar route. Financing anyone with a pulse on loan terms longer than the car is capable of lasting on a single transmission.
