I had this happen to my family, this made us leave and move back to the Midwest. The fires only got worse and worse as the years went on.

It’s definitely one of the biggest issues living out west. But it’s still overwhelmingly worth it to live where we do.

I wouldn’t change a thing, but I totally understand how you might want to get to a place where you don’t have to deal with that.

Hang on, I thought you’re supposed to let parts sit around in the garage while your truck sits in the driveway…if not, I’m doing this build thread thing all wrong.

Man, I need to do the same thing. I was looking through my list of shit to do and all it did was confuse me and bum me out!

I need to do some task triage and see what really needs attending to next instead of getting overwhelmed and bailing

The upside is that I’ve been keeping her on a CTEK charger and she fires right up every Thursday when I take her in to work. At least there’s that.

    This guy knows what’s up!

Hell yeah! I just need to find a way to safely drag my MTB out there too…

    Nope.

I learned a lot about the truck and my (lack of) wheeling skills on that trip with y’all. I’d love to do it again with some of the lessons learned, starting with paring shit down drastically and using my ground tent instead of the Love Nest :D

Managed to get out for a couple camping trips before the kids head back to school. Both trips were at campgrounds, but sometimes that’s what you have to do when kids and the lady are involved. At least we didn’t have to deal with the anxiety of finding a dispersed site with so many dumbasses ‘enjoying the outdoors’ these days. Having access to water to do some paddling was a nice bonus for both spots too.

Also, I can’t emphasize enough how nice it is to have the hoist and straps for storing the RTT. It took about 20 minutes to back the truck in, lower the tent, and get it bolted to the bed rack. So nice.

We also upgraded the sleeping solution in the tent. Before, I had the stock 2.5” memory foam mattress with an additional 1” memory foam pad, but the pad just ended up losing its memory and generally made closing the tent an ass pain. Now we’re using this Klymit air mattress under the stock memory foam and it’s ridiculously comfy. All I have to do is pop the deflate plug and fold things up and it’s never been easier to close. Much much better.

Got invited to run Moon Gulch and Gamble Gulch today. Not too many pictures because we were too busy trying to avoid body damage from all of the trees along the trail. It was pretty damn tight in a few spots!

The truck did great despite the wheelbase causing me to do a few five point turns to avoid trees. It was definitely at least as constricted as the T-33 Plane Crash trail, but it seemed to always be slightly (or very) off-camber, so you were constantly having to high-side everything so you weren’t tipping into the trees. A couple guys did end up taking some minor body damage, but nothing too bad. It was still a blast, and so good to be out on a trail again.

Once we finished Moon and Gamble, we decided to head over to the area around Apex to grill up some brats and drink some beers. Despite getting soaked by an afternoon storm, we had a great time.

Some great views when the trees opened up occasionally.

I can’t tell what’s in there with the thick layer of dust and cobwebs all over everything:rofl:

I’m pretty sure there’s still a crawl box in there somewhere, though…

Oh you know just letting time fly by as I’m trapped in the matrix playing the game. It goes fast. Doing good. Just came on TW to look into the gauge wire 1gens use on the harness. Looks like 18 gauge. I’m going to tackle my fuel cell wiring this winter. Not a big project but one of those little things I just been procrastinating on.

When you had your "All-Pro Off Road Pack Rack Bed Rack (July 2016)", was it the 21-1/4" or the 19-3/8" height? I'm looking for a rack that goes slightly above my roof line so I can mount a hardtop clamshell RTT to fit just over the roof.
