Watch the last one I posted from the guy in Australia. With a proper skid plate it's a beast.

To me, they're akin to Toyota...........they can produce a lot of power.....but usually stay with lower power/better reliability. I've only owned a YZ125.....but Yamaha seems to be able to do both.

ya thats true honda bikes have always been like that, the cars have always been lower power but rev high but really reliable and happy to take a beating and boost. the Yamahas ive owned in the past never truly had an issue but they all leaked oil for some reason even if it was the new razor or what ever someone owned in the group it always just leaked no idea why lol

I like red and tacky, marine grease would be good as it would keep away moisture. The key is just to keep it lubed, once a year suffices as mentioned.

I had a 2002ish YZ125......not a single problem. I also forgot I had a Moto 4 along with my 50R. Rode the absolute shit out of that thing  Then went to a XR80 and 125 Fourtrax

Take them apart. It's really pretty easy and that way you can wipe off any old grease or dirt that are in the pivot points and start them fresh. As stated earlier pay attention to that little brass piece in the clutch lever. If it gets too worn it will affect your shifting and clutch actions. Yamaha also thinks that part is gold not brass.

I remember my dad wanted to get me a YSR50....but mom wasn't having any of that  Back then, the dealer had no problem letting folks test ride stuff. I couldn't have been more than 8 or 9 at the time

So since I've been going down memory lane  This is the bike that truly made me fall in love with bikes. I had already been on/around them for 2 or 3 years. The boyfriend of my neighbor down the street had one of these and would ride down and let me crawl all over it. It was right after Top Gun came out. For some reason in my 7yr old mind.......this was the bike Tom Cruise was on. Maybe it was the red/white/blue theme  I had the bomber jacket and matching kiddie Ray-Bans.......just waited a few years before I got the sportbike :D

The Tom Cruz bike was a Kawasaki, GPZ900R.
A guy I work with told me a few weeks ago, that the original one he rode in the movie had just sold for something like 11.5k recently.

Bonus to Tom Cruise riding motorcycles is that I know I can ride anything he does, because he's short.

That doesn't seem like a bad price for what that bike is.

    Haha.
Original price new was probably 5-6 grand, if I had to guess.

I wish he’d wear a helmet though instead of promoting riding like a squid.
