Had them build a nest and chew some wires on top of the intake. Removed the plastic intake cover ( big flat on) and laid out traps. Nailed two of the fuckers and they haven't been back. Also check air intake box. Found a nest in GF Camaro so I rapped it with steel mesh. I hate rats!

Pop the cowl(screw clips and clamp clips on gasket) you’ll probably find a nest under there and you’ll want to screen it off at the wheel well openings at either end as well as the cabin air intake to keep them from nesting on the filter or gf getting past it to nest or die farther in. A hole in the filter can allow debris to get in and snap the plastic fan blades.

Get a snake and place it under the hood, then when you have no more mice, get a hawk to get rid of the snake; then after the snake problem is gone, get a gorilla to eat the hawk, science man!

Anti-cribbing spray at Tractor Supply or your neighborhood feed store. It keeps horses from chewing up corrals, it should work on mice too.

A self-resetting trap would be better than a single use one if he goes that route. Plenty of DIY ones on YouBoob

Rat poison pellets kill anything getting in there. They won’t live long enough to chew wires. A few bites and they will be dead before making it up to your engine. Just throw some chunks under truck and that will be the end.

You can also use a bucket of water, sprinkle goodies like sunflower seeds on top of water surface with a wooden ramp. Dumb ass mice and rats, chipmunks, moles will climb the ramp and attempt to jump down to get seeds. They will sink to their death. Place the bucket next to your truck tire and these little 4 leggers will make this wrong choice every time. You can then dip them out with a shovel and bury them in a hole. Don’t watch or you might be tempted to rescue one or two.

A water trap is very effective. I will put one out in the chicken coop and it will snag 6-10 per night. Slide that under the truck....

Raise the hood. It works. Mice like to hide under things. An open hood is not very secure. I have been doing this for a long time with no damage to vehicles.

Cats like to be outside. Give them a place to stay, some food/water, welcome them when they come back and you should be golden.
