    Evening all:

    Sue!
Could be worse, called the Pa game commission and was caller #5 in line, finally got to talk to someone and was transferred to another division where I was now caller #9 in line :annoyed: :frusty:.
I can't believe how much time we are all wasting anymore just trying to get to talk to someone on the phone. :(

A little something every chance we get.
"we're understaffed, and no one want to work for $7 an hour, and no benefits. We offered up to $7.50 as a starting bonus!"

Meanwhile, the staff there is parties on!
(Honestly, I feel bad for people with these jobs these days.)

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!

You still see a lot of WWII vintage Mosin Nagant PU Soviet sniper rifles being used around the world - saw some early pictures out of Ukraine when the Russians invaded. I started shooting Vintage Sniper Rifle competitions maybe 15 years ago but haven't shot since 2019 or so. Most competitors go for US made 1903s or Garands or British Enfields, but I love the simplicity of the old Soviet Mosins. The Soviet PU sights are also really sturdy and accurate for their time. Shooting at 1000 yards with a fixed magnification 3.5X scope is fun...and a challenge. Someone makes a magnifier that takes the scope to 6.5X but I haven't tried that - couldn't use it for competition anyway. Snipers in WWII really didn't work t the ranges we see now. For them, 500 yards was a long shot.

I've had as many as 4 MN PU sniper rifles but pared down to 2 now. I always liked to take 2 with me to competitions just in case. My favorite is a 1942 Izhevsk that is a tack driver.

    1942 Izhevsk Sniper 1.jpg

    1942 Izhevsk Sniper 5.jpg

I reload my rounds for competition and this was a final zero before one of my competitions. I had 3 slightly lower-powdered rounds thrown in randomly - I like to do that just as confirmation that I'm being consistent in the reloads. 100 yards. I shot 2 groups of 4 rounds starting on the lower left and adjusted my sights, then did the same on the lower right - you can see 2 of the lower-powdered rounds in those groups. Then shot my final 4 round confirmation at the upper red bullseye - last of the 3 lower-powdered rounds in that group. The only inaccuracies in this rifle are located behind the trigger.

    Good Morning :hattip:

Very nice looking Mosin Nagant you've got there !!

    Here's my Savage Axis .308

It has alot of mods done to it and works very well but haven't had it out to the range since 2016 . And now with my Parkinson's disease diagnosis I may never get back out to the range

Basically my Savage Axis XP has been built to go out to 500yrds and have fun with on range days . It has a custom made Boyd's wood stock , a heavy duty Bull barrel with a muzzle brake , bipod , light weight trigger assembly , 20moa scope mount , 6x24x50 scope and a Anti Cant bubble level attached to the scope rings

    Made it, another day.

    Had my doubts yesterday.
Went and dropped my truck at body shop in morning. Had to get ride home from neighbor. Reliable one had health issues in morning so I called the other one...
He just said call when your leaving. I called 3 times...
    1 hr drive going slow.
I walked into shop and was greeted by a growling mini...I waited 30 minutes in the office yelling hello...Guy finally comes out on the cell with someone.
He says Ford door finally. We chat. I wait for my ride. Ride shows an hour after I got there. Guy says leave the keys in the truck...I'll call you tomorrow.
It took an hour an a half to get home. After 2 stops. We almost hit 60 in a 65.
I finally asked if he could see...out of my right eye he said.
I ate lunch and took a nap when I got home, exhausted.

Today I need a ride back to body shop when he calls. In the old jeep guys cherokee....can I take it? He wanted to go to the store for groceries yesterday.
I said you can go tomorrow after dropping me off...can I take it? OOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
Supposed to be getting a load of firewood here today. That guy never called.
Told the jeep ride I would buy a load for him for xmas. He left 2 messages asking if the wood came...

Good thing I don't deal with people daily anymore.

Good morning, everyone. Music lesson is via zoom today, so I have an extra 45 minutes to accomplish something. Think I will put a screen back in a window and file some paperwork. Son aske3d me to bake some cookies so there is that to do, LOL. Just missed my mail carrier yesterday. I usually give them a $25 gift card for Christmas. Postal employees are allowed to accept gifts up to $25. I have been blessed with great guys and sometimes gals as my regular mail carrier. If I am outside or in the garage working the carrier always has time to chat for a few minutes.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/sharpshooters. I can't hit the broad side of a barn with a blunderbuss, so color me impressed.

My wife's financial lady sends her "ladyfingers" as a gift every year around this time. Biscuit bread with ground ham inside. They arrived yesterday. Sssooooo yummy.

@ImpulseRed008 your phone hold story gave me flashbacks to when I was on hold for hours trying to get through to the IRS, back when my parents' taxes were all messed up. It took me months and months to get it all straightened out, including several multi-hour sessions on hold waiting for a human. I hope I never have to go through that again!

Sweet rifle!!! I know what you mean about shooting again with health issues although mine is just a cataract in my right eye. I've just been waiting a bit to get it removed - about time I do.

These were my 4 PU snipers - down to 2 now.

    PU Snipers May 12 2013.jpg

I also built this in .223 Wylde for long range - really 500 yards is about the sweet spot for it. But, it was fun to start from scratch and put it all together.

I’m grandpa for the week because my older daughter and son-in-law went on vacation. It’s weird having a baby in the house again.

Good day everyone, good shots, I got fantastic news my SS notification came yesterday the increase was so huge that I feel like the barber in the movie Trading Places, getting his Christmas bonus. Actually the voters here voted down a 127 million dollar tax increase for a new convention center and renovation to the stadium our college uses for a stadium for football. I think people are finally getting the picture of the difference between wants and needs.
