Already seen one dealer wanting $5k markup on their TRD Sport allocation and have Tundras marked automatically $2k off on smartpath in KY.

Agreed on smartpath, but there are dealers that are marking up the new highly anticipated Tacoma with a line of customers willing to pay over MSRP and discounting Tundras that are struggling and sitting on lots, supply and demand in relation to pricing applies to models not just dealers unilaterally. The same dealer I used in my example did not have any additional accessories, Tundra was MSRP only port option installed was the door edge guards and running boards. Ive had 12 Tacomas, 2 Toyotas and a Lexus with the wife and have bought in AZ, NJ, PA, IL, GA, AL and TN, they all have their own shenanigan's and sometimes defy logic, including marked up vehicles and heavily discounted ones on the lot.

There's really nothing new with the 2024 Tundra and there is six months of media hype for the new Tacoma (which also sells better than the Tundra) so the markups/discounts are understandable.

2024 Ranger has some upgrades and the Raptor will draw a lot of people to the dealer who will then buy a less expensive (and available) model.

2024 Canyon has the the new Bison w/35"s that will also draw buyers to the showroom, most of whom will downgrade to a ZR1 or Trail Boss.

Toyota dealers will get the markups from the diehard fanboys early on and then competition and the economy will bring them back to MSRP.

Exactly and as a die hard fan boy, I will be one of those idiots you all hate paying $2k markup to have the latest and greatest but also just something I really want and after the year I've had treating myself, should I wait for MSRP and allocations to start building up probably, but f-it, we are also in a position where rate wont matter (will have paid off in 6 months the remaining balance) just not getting hosed on my trade which is where im more hesitant because Tundra values on the prior gen actually went up with the new gen.

I’ve had a 60 series land cruiser, 80 series land cruiser, 200 series Land Cruiser, third generation 4Runner, fifth generation 4Runner, second generation Tacoma, third generation Tacoma, FJ cruiser, and I’ve bought an FJ cruiser and a fifth generation 4Runner for my older daughter.

I’m not excited about the new hybrid land cruiser, the overpriced tundra and Tacoma, or whatever the hell the Sequoia has become.

My wife might be interested in the new 250 GX, but its only redeeming quality is the lack of a hybrid motor.

The most Toyota can get me to buy from them these days has an SR access cab because it seems like they don’t have what I want anymore.

What do these new Toyota designers and engineers want me to do, move over to another brand?

Ok. We’ll blame you for the dealer mark ups.

Sorry friend, I feel ya, I definitely feel and can see the change in direction Toyota seems to be making and agree with your sentiments, I personally did not like the Tundra at all, but for me its more about features, reliability, looks and resale, and the new Tacoma checks all those for me along with the wife's hybrid RXh and the more than likely new GX w/kid two later down the road. But I agree I dont know what I'll do when I want a full size cause I can't get on board with the Tundra and drove the Ford and wasnt the usual Toyota feeling I enjoy. IDK but I feels.

I don’t think Toyota cares about buyers like you anymore. They are catering to the instagram and YouTube crowd now. They used to sell reliable utilitarian vehicles. Now it’s all fancy look at me trucks that they can charge big money for.

Rightfully so, but you can also laugh at me when you just hold out a bit and get one for a good deal less, its not like there wont be plenty of them by this time next year.

The Tacoma, Colorado, and Ranger all look more or less the same. Toyota didn't make a CyberTruck. They all have turbo 4s, they all have safety sense style nanny features and 14" displays. All of the manufactures are catering to the "crowd" that buys trucks.

I could swear in one of the videos from May of this year at the reveal they said $2995 for the pogo stick seats. But that may have been if it was an option and not standard equipment or something.

Toyota acts like this is revolutionary, but I keep thinking of the type of seats you get in a forward control truck, a tractor, or an excavator.

I put in the extra $1,500 for the seats but I don't think they will be an option. Toyota will bury the cost in the PRO base price and if they offer it as an option in other models it will be bundled with other stuff.

That should be 302 miles of range averaging 19.9 MPG while still having 3 gallons in reserve

Truck King just put out a video checking the fuel economy of the off-road. He got 19.9 mpg with a mix of highway and city driving. He also says at the end that none of the manufacturers that went from a V6 to turbo 4’s are getting better real world fuel economy. Lame.
