New toy. We got a job we can use it on that will pay for it in no time.

 

Haven't used one since middle school but spot welding is the only kind of welding I'm even remotely capable of.

 

I've been welding a long time and never used a spot welder

Model with a foot pedal is handy.

 

I got a buddy who has one of those, I took a batter box lid for a tractor to him to spot weld two tabs on once. He made me watch

 

Insulating the straight sections is a breeze, the elbows not so much...

Did a little CAD* work and made a template.

Well this sure doesn't look like much for the amount of time...

The work itself wasn't so bad, access however - I could work at full arms length in a space 6" wide or try not to mud slide down the bank on the "good" side.



Almost missed the attic there for an hour.

Good thing too cause I feel like @$$...

Between the horrible position, sliding down the mud bank several times and ringing my bell on various things it has been a rough afternoon.

 

Due to merciless goading by @koditten I now had to come up with a solution.

I had a bit of R-board and some super long zip ties, made a long insulation plank I could push all the way to the foundation.

Seeing as there are 2 million rocks down here I used some to further support the bottom. I snaked some of the original insulation over the top.



There, I won that one.

 

Crisis averted!^

 

New toys delivered today.

 

Got it working!

 

It should raise the system efficiency by .004% too.

 

If you find yourself with a can of expanding foam that might be a bit past date (say 10 years or so) that doesn't want to work:



Carefully punch a hole in the top and the foam exits the can right now, just make sure you are ready.

I had several old cans and have been using them to "mortar" the loose stacked stones around the dungeon door.

 

Finished up the bathroom remodel today! Finally!
