any thoughts on whether it's worth 3d printing h11 to h9 inserts or is that just faffing around for no real benefit

Changing from h11 tungsram platinums over to h9s after they burnt out at 10mos/15k km...

    Probably cheaper than printing?

The H9 bulb is easy to install if you pull the green plastic insert from the socket. There are a few photographs in this thread showing how.

Yeah, i got that part. I was wanting to replace the green h11 insert with the yellow h9 insert...might not be necessary but there's something to be said about doing things right...

Anyway I think I have my solution so thanks for the recommendations!

If you have a set of digital calipers it would be interesting to see how the distance between emitter faces changed in the update, if at all. With this particular LED the body cut out would allow use of standard calipers for measuring, which can be purchased very cheaply at Harbor Freight or Amazon if you don’t have some. No need for the specialized pinned calipers shown.

I don't think there is a physical difference between the pro9000 and the pro9100. Probably only the led chip is getting a little bit more power which might be enough to be as bright as powerfull halogen in projector. On reflector headlights, the pro9000 is a lot more powerfull.

Hey all--I'd like to avoid reading 350 pages. The last recommendation I saw was that the current best plug and plays were the tungsram nighthawk xenons but those aren't in stock anywhere anymore. Have they been replaced with a new model with a new Amazon link? What's the current go to best plug and play? Thanks for all your hard work everyone I'm a nerd but not about this and I really appreciate all of you that this is what you nerd out about. I just want to be able to see at night please

    Philips H9 still work well.

And you don't need to do much to make it work in the Tacoma.

Agreed ... when you know that fact it takes 2 seconds (one each side) to remove the green insert. I use NAPA H9 because I do not buy on Crapazon, but I see just fine at night on civilized roads. If I off-road at night I will do ditch lights and other grille-area supplements.

If you're near a Menards, they also sell Philips bulbs. The one near me had German H9s. Though yours may vary.
