1 micron or 10 microns the particles are still much smaller than the tolerances/oil film between moving parts. And the engine lasts as long as the rest of the truck with the OEM filter.

Idemitsu, then Castrol gold bottle, them M1 EP. Rest are about equal to each other.
I do not run any of them for 20K, so I cannot attest to how they do over 10K.

Do you know what those reasons are? Cheapest filter that will keep the engine alive for 36,000 miles?

Acceptable? (That rock won’t chew up your bearing for at least - 37,000 miles. You’re golden!)

Partially right, partially wrong. Aircraft engine engineers and automotive engine engineers are probably working to different ends. Maybe aircraft is driven more by liability and automotive is driven more by cost. And let’s not forget Management, Accounting or Sales & Marketing overriding some of those engineering decisions. It happens!

Anyway, engineers aren’t infallible or immune from mistakes. They can make some questionable decisions, like everyone else. And it’s OK to question things. Or change things. (Maybe not so much on airplanes, though. Especially not the C-130!)

I am installing a toilet paper by-pass oil filter and switching to 1000 mile OCIs. Maybe I can get 2 million miles out of this truck, instead of 400 thousand.

The engine warranty is 60 000 miles and these trucks regularly got 300 000 miles or more with no issues running OEM filters that haven’t changed for decades.

Only got to ride in them a few times. There are a bunch of them stationed over at Youngstown ARS and they do a lot of low-level training. You can hear (and feel) them coming your way. Still so cool!

If you read the severe duty schedule in the manual I’m willing to bet a very small percentage of drivers fit into the 10k interval.
As stated earlier, oil changes are much cheaper than a motor. Do whatever makes you comfortable.

motor oil for the most part. toyota specifies 0w-20.

other than that, brands and additives are more like assholes. everyone's got a favorite, and everyone hates hearing about anyone else's.
